Bring me up to speed...history lesson.

I did a few searches, but didn't produce exactly what I'm looking for. Currently I'm 'toying' with idea of selling my i/o and going to an outboard. I am looking to spend around $5000-6000 on the outboard motor. (I will spend more if there is good reason) The type of boat I'm am looking to...

Ideas for fastening wires to transom

I have to replace this tube and 'pick up' (whatever its called) for the speedo. Also, I'm installing a transducer on the other side of the outdrive. Is there a better method to fasten the tube and wire to the transom than putting screws and tabs into my transom as you see here? Thanks [/IMG]

    Tach flicker

Took the boat out for the first time yesterday. Each time I moved the trim up or down the tach would do a little 'flicker' or 'jump'. Any reason to be concerned about this?

What is this thing I found in my boat?

I would have thought this is just something left behind by the previous owner but the sticker on it says, "remove when boat is in transport." What is it?

    prop touching trim tab

Changed prop from a 19p to 21p...now touches trim tab. Does tab have to be replaced or can tab be ground down abit? If it can be ground down, how much clearance? [/IMG]

Product for filling screw holes in fiberglass

I'm polishing my boat for the first time. (having a heck of a time getting the oxidizing off!) I found a screw hole from what looks like a snap on rivet from the cover that was removed. Also, there are a few screw holes on the transom from hardware that must have been screwed on. All above the...

    Watching UPS deliver my package

Bought something from iboats and this UPS 'tracking' technology is amazing. Super cool that I can sit at home watch it move across the country. Last night in Chicago, scanned out in Hodgkins.....should be at the border by noon.....this technology will probably stop at the border, I think Canada...

    Mine's toast...best 'Guesstimate' prop?

    rust in drain plug threads

The shop that winterized my boat didn't replace the drain plugs. The threads are rusted. I bought a small wire brush (from a dremel set) and hope I can clean them up this way. Is there a product that I could spray on the threads first that 'may' loosen some of the rust?

Turned the key for the first time...

.....and it's allll good. Smooth sounding motor! (4.3) Bought this thing sight unseen so I've waited a winter to finally hook the muffs to it. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=365799 One glitch...the fuel gauge doesn't work. Where would you start troubleshooting this?

    Garmin internal memory gps question...enough?

I'm debating between a Garmin eTrex Summit HC or eTrex Vista HCx. The only difference is the Summit has 24mb of internal memory and the Vista has expandable memory. I only want to download the maps for my province as I only need/want it for local use. Can anyone tell me if the 24mb is enough...

    Instructional Videos?

This may not be the best place for this thread, but I was wondering about thoughts of creating a video library? I haven't been here a year yet, but I'm seeing the same questions come up that many guys here have seen annually for 10 years. I don't think these redundant questions should be...

    I can smell it!

Ok, weird title, but I bet you can relate. Note: my location is cold north...in winter everything just smells cold. It is 9 C (48F) here today. I pulled the cover off the boat and it smelled like 'lake'. I instantly felt nostalgic, blood pressure dropped a few beats....
