    I am replacing the engine in my boat which had a 1984 omc 5.7 with the stringer. I bought a used 1988 omc 5.0 engine but found that the bolt pattern was different for flywheel and coupler.     I looked at it and actually the drive is mounted to the floor on each side by itself, so it would not fall out. So Im thinking I could just unbolt bellhousing and front motor mount and out comes the engine.

    I have an 84 beachcraft with a 5.7 liter engine. What would be the easiest way to remove the motor. Can I just unbolt bellhosing like a car. I do have a decent amount of room for motor to slide forward.

    I have a 1984 omc stern drive 5.7 motor and I noticed it has hydraulic struts in the front of the motor that lift and raise it with a button. What is the purpose for this?

    1989 jonhnson 48 spl timing issue

    I bought a boat that has a Johnson 48 spl but when I try to start it it backfires and sounds like it is firing at the wrong time. I also saw that the flywheel nut was welded to the flywheel and thought something could be wrong with the flywheel or under it. What could I be looking for?
