    I found some 1/4"x2" alum angle for the knee,all the import stuff at Lows/Depot just looks flimsy/cheap to me. I will use bolts thru the transom and 1/4" rivets and bolt on the knee.buttered up with 5200.

    OK......I got the transom in and found a console on craigslist for a few skins, question of the day,how to bend the tabs back down flat? and the po must have had a kicker on it because there are a PILE OF HOLES on port side.

    After 1 week soaking in evaporust I pulled one washer out.still one fused stuck under the knee brace.

    I feel special in the STARMADA ,I got this 3/16" alum diamond plate from a friend,I spose this will work on outside of transom to cover all the holes.a full coat of 5200 and clamp her up.

    My biggest concern is how to seal these old holes 100% before I put my new motor on.its a completely different bolt pattern. Hey GA_BOATER IM IN BUFORD, looks like were in the same neck of the waves!

    This is going to be a center console,so the dash and ALL had to go.almost all the rivets in floor supports were broken. I think if I use aluminum cleaner it will remove the protective coating that forms on alum over time.I spent 2 hrs pulling screws with drill before I got SMART and broke out...

    OK, I'm trying to figure out the best way to plug/waterproof all the old holes before I have the new motor installed. I'm going with a 90 zuki four,so im sure the hole pattern will be completely different. I have epoxied my new transom in one pc/no ears. how about 1/4 alum plate over outside...

    its steel I put a magnet on it and its flak ey, then I put a small drill bit and its all 100% magnetic.

    I am restoring 1974 holiday and found a piece of rusty SWOLLEN up steel in the very worst spot,under the center of the transom knee along with hooks sinkers and coins, just need to dissolve it with out hurting the aluminum????

    I'm restoring a 74 18' Holiday. I want to use a SUZUKI DF115 @416 LBS, TOO HEAVY?????? new transom marine 2x3/4" epoxied, the knee is good.
