    add closed cooling

    Buying a fresh water 2005 merc 5.0. It has raw water cooling now. Talked to my local merc dealer about adding a closed system to it. He says it's not that easy and requires a different ECM. That's a tough one to believe. Anybody heard anything like that?

    Not sure where to post this. Looking at 27 and 28' sundancers. Single 7.4, twin 5.0,s or twin 5.7,s. 8000 lb boat. Any ideas about fuel burn with these combo's. Or pros or cons. Thanks

    350 swap

    Any one know if a 1998 350 chevy will bolt up in place of a 1988 350. Same crank? Block mounts? The 88 is a crusader, 98 is a merc, if that matters.

    Not sure where the problem is. Trims down not up. Trailer switch will trim it up. Not sure how to get the 3000 apart to look at the switch

    high idle

    I have an occasional high idle with the motor in my sig. Happening with more frequency lately. If I turn the motor off, then back on, it will return to the normal idle. Is there a way to test the AIC or the TPS to tell which one it might be?

    2005 amberjack

    Looking to upgrade to this sea ray. It has a 6.2 fresh water cooled motor. Has only 150 hours on it. Are the manifolds and risers suspect already. All usage was in salt water. Don't want to pay for a survey. What else should I be paying attention to ? I will do a compression test.

    rigging temp alarm

    Is there a simple way to rig an overheat buzzer on my boat. Did one for the oil pressure, but not sure how to tap into the switch on my t stat housing. Seloc manual shows those wires going to the ECM, but not coming out.

    vibration

    I have had this noticable when turning and trimming vibration. Got worse when I put a 4 blade SS prop on it.     replacement U joints

    Just picked up a pair of U joints using the stickey part #'s. Not as beefy as OE .655 as compared to .700 OE. Rollers are a lot smaller as well. What do you expect for $15. How long are they expected to last? Is it worth the savings?

    vibration

    What level of vibration is acceptable? Mine does it hard left,right and trimmed up. The bearing feels smooth. Same with U joints. Nothing obvious. Coupler looks good too. Should I just change things out anyways?
