    35 hp gale, replaced the prop in 1987 and quit using boat till just recently. It just won't get on plane like it used to. Full tune up last fall. so do they just go bad with age? same boat. I put on a few pounds since then!

    What size should my battery cables be?

    I'm making new cables and probably be no more than 4 ft long. This for a gale 35 hp but, should be same as a big twin johnson. The original under the hood looks pretty heavy. I was thinking of making them out of some nice jumper cables I picked up for $2. at a yard sale. They might be 10 gauge.

    carb overflows a little thru primer rod. have cleaned and inspected, found little dirt, float seems good as rod goes all way to top and stays there. only when vented of course does it do this.     Sea King 3, water problem, gale 1961

    I installed new impeller today and thought the water should come out of the chevrons on back of lower unit. did not. it is supposed to come out of there shouldn't it? going to take pump back apart and try shooting some water up the water tube. maybe dirt dobbers or something has blocked passage...
