    go in from the back side where the terminals are snapped into the plastic bit. you need access from both sides, you also need a small pick or small jewelers screw driver to release the tang to pull the terminals out.

    that should be the alternator excite wire regarding your starting issue. service the points.... file them, rough gap them, use a dwell meter to set dwell, then set timing.
