cracks between rivets on aluminum starcraft islander

Grandad had the longest pics of his Holiday with rib end cracks but his pics I'm afraid were a victim of potobuckets demise. The it's going to the bottom pics were of the side splitting down the spray rail chine.

    New to me

I'm really not familiar with the Chrysler motors so you'll need to scour the entire motors outside and under the cowl for a motor ID plate. I would also post a thread in the Chrysler motor group for their input.

cracks between rivets on aluminum starcraft islander

Common issue with the older boats before SC figured it out and added rib end braces in the mid-late 70's. The answer to your question is nothing can be done to repair them permanently from just the outside. You have to patch over the cracks and add the braces to the inside for it to be properly...

    Boat is slow

Looks like there's a problem with that prop or someone didn't torque it down, the face of the prop hub should not have all that circular scarring. Those numbers don't mean anything to me, it may have the pitch and diameter numbers stamped on the outside of the prop barrel. A 50 horse would be...

    New to me

Serial number for the motor would help to ID it and for new parts. Not sure but a lot of parts for those motors are probably NLA but the water pump parts should be available still.

    Holiday 160 transom

Looks like the original transom and it may be starting to delaminate, I highly recommend replacing it.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Bench seat work looks top notch, impressed by your use of rivets solid and LF blinds. (y) Wake boat's are a danger to these boats when up on a plane and you suddenly find yourself launched over a 4' high wave and coming down on the next one spearing it with the bow. Can't imagine spending over...

    1964 17’ Starcraft Riviera.

Yeah I agree that a bimini would be a better choice for sun shade, cost and you have to take it down to trailer so it won't be left up to get ruined by mother nature.

Put on a bimini top today

The bimini is worth it's weight in gold, never be without one again. Or a porta potty for the lady :D

Starcraft Chieftain 25 vs islander 22

One of the factors in the Islander 220 is that they're in an OB config too where I've not seen a Chief over 20' having an OB at least around here of for sale anywhere. I have a V5 220 Islander OB but the measurements wouldn't do you any good if your looking to be in an IO config and not sure...

1988 StarCraft Select 191s wiring question

Bilge pump, horn, and nav lights are 5 amp. Not sure about the blower, check the power wire near it for a label.

Burned up wire in my outboard

Normally wire will burn when there's a direct short. Far as needing a trim sender on an OB motor I would say no it's not needed.

Hello everybody! 1989 221V Islander Restoration.

Why not worry about replacing the OMC when it's needed, you can still get parts for the 4.3L and typical maintenance parts for the drive. If you're keeping with the IO config then yeah a 4.3L is a tried and true motor that will run forever if taken care of. Very fond of mine, so far a new fuel...

Welcome aboard, yeah lots of work ahead for sure but it's amazing when you're all done. Pick up new seats, deck covering material, gauges, new controls and anything else you can think of down to cup holders. Oh and tools of the trade as well for rivets, sanding and such.

any idea of what this is for?

Power tilt and trim switch panel. You don't need it if you're adding controls with the TnT switches.

anyone ever do this on chieftain 18?

We use the top of the cabin for our lunch counter and I put a porta potty in as well. The easy way for me was to install a bimini top for shade.
