Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Shaft

That may be but the pre 98 and up gen 2 drive use a diff part number for the bearing pack in input yoke than the earlier ones. so hard to say if the earlier driveshaft fits the later or vice versa. possible it may fit but not sure why not just replace the u joints.

Alpha One Gen 2 Drive Shaft

I think this is when they changed the input shaft bearing set up from tighten nut to torque to to the rolling torque so would suspect the inout yoke bearings are different. this is an addition to u joints being different - inside vs outside retaining rings. as bt dr wrote what’s wrong with it...

    Hole shot

Try a 16” 4 blade vortex. That is what I used to run for skiing on my old boat. 16” for skiing, 18” for everything else. Worked well and was relatively inexpensive . You will hit rev limiter based on your numbers so when not skiing you have to watch the throttle .

    Engine install checklist

the trim sender goes to engine harness and the bullet connectors cant be reversed. The trim limit goes to the trim pump so really cant mix it up. I found the starter wires are a little easier if you lift the engine a foot or so but is really boat dependent. the ground wires go on the studs...

    Mercruiser 120 poor starting

compare spark gap test before and after setting with dwell meter. Dwell is what determines the amount of time the coil builds up spark energy prior to firing. this is a great video explaining how points work and a fantastic example of what a good spark looks like. The money shot is at 5:07...
