    LiFePO Batteries ???

OK- I have been reading through the Xantrex manual . . . my head is starting to hurt 🤪 There is the ability to tailor the custom charging (otherwise why would it be called 'custom'). The charger settings are in an 'Advanced Settings' menu . . . BUT . . . the menu does not normally show on the...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes, coolers of beer. . . or maybe it will be too hot in there?

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Here is the charging of the LFP4's after about 90 minutes . . . down to 5.5 amps (total of the 2 LFP4's) . . not sure why the inverter is choosing 14.0 volts to charge, but I guess it is OK.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Batteries are installed . . . It works (so far). I spent most of the day cutting the 2/0 cables of the old system to length for the new power system and installing lugs. I usually crimp and then solder the lugs. 2/0 cable and lugs take a lot of solder . . . I had to go buy more. Anyway . ...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Too late . . . I spent the day re-purposing the old cables and making them the same length. 😀

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Morning Update . . . It stopped raining !!! :D and the sun is shining !!! but only 40˚F :cautious: In departure from my usual approach, I read and followed the preparation instructions for the LFP4 batteries. :ROFLMAO: Charge them separately to at least 13.33 volts resting Mate them...

    Stern Drive Mystery

I'd be cautious in taking on the new owner's issue. Not your problem anymore unless there is some sort of warranty that may apply to the sale. As stated revving in neutral means nothing.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes I did. It seems that they put more features in the TM version of the batteries, yet they can certainly be used as a general purpose battery for off-grid power systems. My main attraction to this version was the LTCP feature. Will Prowse did a review of the battery and noted the upgraded...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The FedEx person arrived with the batteries . . . :D . . Very shiny . . . . . . . I got to charge them up as they are shipped with only about 25% charge. I am thinking that maybe I should let the Xantrex charge them up . . or maybe the ProNautic . . . which might be easier, based on the...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

More progress. . . The weather is not cooperating and it was sleeting a while ago. I manged to get the panel installed in the boat. I grabbed a couple of Group 27 Marine Starting batteries in town and still waiting for the FedEx person to bring the LiFePO4 batteries. . . In other news, I've...

    Boat Pricing

If you are looking for a solid and absolute number of the boat's value, you won't find one. Value is subjective. Look at NADAguides.com and BucValue.com and also search for any same/similar Ad listings. That will give you several points to establish a market value ballpark. Then it is a...

Mercruiser 250hp Stern Drive Bravo 3 leg dirty sea Strainer

I'd locate the sea water strainers and clean them out. Seems like a fairly straight forward task unless you are not mechanically inclined. Post some pictures of the engines from various angles. The sea water strainer should be visible.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Back at the boat . . . looks like rain in the forecast for the next few days. I got the component panel wired up . . . just got to give it the once over quality control inspection ( fancy words for checking to see if I wired it up correctly :ROFLMAO: ) . . I got to get the red caps for the...

Looking at buying a 2006 Bayliner Cierra 2455 that has seen better days at auction with an eye to restore it. Not sure what to look for.

As stated, looks to be a 1988 and the engine/outdrive are obsolete as the company OMC went out of business 25 years ago. I would expect that the boat will need a new transom, engine mount stringers and perhaps the forward bulkhead. Bayliners of that era were real bottom of the barrel in terms...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

More progress . . . I am back home, away from the boat for a day or so. . . . but I did make good progress on the wiring yesterday and this AM. . . It is fairly tedious, since I am doing both crimping and soldering and then heat shrink at the ends. I just got to remember where everything goes...

Small and light boat for 5+ people?

Perhaps the well-loaded aluminum boats that you see are actually over loaded. Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIB) of about 12 feet in length have the capacity in the range that you are speaking of.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

A bunch of my stuff arrived today, so I was able to get the components mounted to the PVC board. Some of the components are more straight than others . . . :ROFLMAO: . . Now just to wire it all up.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Progress update . . . Waiting for parts/supplies to arrive. I did stop at West Marine yesterday for a couple of things, but the pricing is a bit scary vs. what I can do online. Anyway, I've got my battery box layout roughed out. The 2 engine batteries on the outside and the 2 house batteries...

    Fuel tank repair

Many/most welding shops won't repair a used fuel tank, and for good reason as Matt mentioned. If the tank is 0.125" thick aluminum (check the certification label), then it is probably done. Even if it were 0.019" or more thick aluminum, I'm not sure I'd want to have it repaired . . . The area...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yup, a dirty mess. More progress . . . slowly but surely. I prepped the lead that will go from the alternator isolator to the DC-DC charger. Keeping with the theme of the wiring, I added a label to the wire. . . Here is the wire installed . . . . . I'll be cutting/prepping the other end to...
