    LiFePO Batteries ???

One thing that I need to do is isolate the ProNautic 1230 from that accessory (now the house) battery bank, which will be the LFP4 batteries. In addition I have to re-route the third branch of the 2-Alternator/3 Battery isolator. Finding these leads have take a few hours. The charger lead was...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I'm not concerned about the charging current . . . the batteries will take more than the system can give it, and the recommended charging is in the spec. range of the other system components.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Executive Decision . . . I was going to try to locate the LFP4 batteries more forward in the boat to get as much weight as possible out of the stern . . . BUT . . . The bulkheads and conduit passage ways are such that it is going to be a PITA to do so. After at least 2 minutes of...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The maximum continuous charge current is 100 amps. Which I recall checking as I looked into these batteries. So, in the extreme situation the Xantrex would charge at twice the recommended, but only 40% of the maximum continuous rating. They should be fine. I believe I can create a custom...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The Xantrex can/does put out 80 Amps for charging. But to your point I'll take a look at the batteries and the Xantrex to see about the limitation you mentioned.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Progress Update . . . I got the battery shelf in the engine bay cleaned out of the battery boxes and took a look at the remaining wiring. Each wire (cable) is labeled as to its purpose/connection (Thank you Cruisers Yacht :D ). Also, much of my electrical 'stuff' arrived today, so I've...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Since it is raining and I'm bored . . . I'm seeing if I can bring any life back into a couple of these batteries. One battery was sitting at about 10volts and the others (6 of them) are sitting at around 5.4 volts. I've got a charger that does repair/(reconditioning) . . . essentially it...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

In other news. . . I have found that the port engine still has a persistent coolant leak. Each year I try to fix it, but over the winter it looses about a gallon of coolant. Probably some cross-over assembly maintenance is in my future, as I believe that is where it is leaking.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

and @airshot Yes, I believe the benefits of LiFePO4 have been discussed in this thread and elsewhere. I've ordered two 100Ah LiTime LiFEPO4 batteries with cold temperature charging protection to replace the five AGM batteries that served as the house battery bank. They should arrive...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Not yet . . . got to take the battery boxes out first.

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Despite the pouring rain, I was able to get the 7 (seven) batteries out of the boat. . . . . I believe one of the house batteries was internally shorted out, so I couldn't run the maintenance charge over the winter, as both the charger and inverter would peg at their maximum amps (80 amps...

    2000 Stingray 190 RX Restoration

If you are not up to rebuilding/replacing the engine, then you may be best to sell it as a fixer. I recently re-upholstered a Stingray of similar vintage and was surprised to note that the boat was using Perma Panel (KDAT) plywood, which is rot resistant. Not sure if a 2000 model would have...

Boat damaged during stay at repair shop

These things happen . . . Review any contractual terms stated on the repair paperwork. Notify your insurance company of the damage while the boat was in for repair. Find out the repair shop's insurance company, if you can. Let the insurance company fight it out with the repair shop. The...

    Water leaking from engine - 5.7 GXI-E

Before you have the engine pulled . . . do verify where the leak is coming from. Items mentioned in this thread are . . . Core plug Exhaust manifold crack Engine block crack There are some engine block drains, on either side of the block, but the leak looks to be too far back for that...

    Water leaking from engine - 5.7 GXI-E

This might be the first cracked engine block of the 2024 season. BTW - the starboard engine mount stringer is also cracked. You should have a look to see if is is wet/saturated.
