1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

The V5 extended bottom strake (not rake spell check) that nearly ends at the bow and the port side filler you can see.

    Center console project

Starcraft factory put the braces under the rib ends, welding near the seams will destroy the sealer and possibly cause issues with cracking later on. Yeah there are already 100's of holes filled with rivets below the waterline. Not sure how many of these cracked out spray rails you want to see...

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

No my Islander was an OB model. Nope that Islander in the video is a later model 5 years after the V5 but they kept the V5 style SW and similar hull design. It also doesn't have the extended bottom rake or port side fuel filler.

Welcome aboard, nice find and yeah the 22r's do seem to be more prevalent.

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

I would for sure model is after the V5 style SW. My Islander transom is 25" with a PO hack job to 20".

    75 Chieftain Express 22’

Yeah those are some large tanks, probably around 30 gal each it looks like. Most of the IO's came with jump seats on either side of the doghouse but most haven't survived by the time we find these old tinnys.

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

Looks good on the back (y) I was wondering if you were going to reuse the cable pully steering or go to single cable helm in the tilt tube.

The rebuilding stage is the most fun part of the project and I really enjoyed working with the aluminum framing materials, even more so than wood but far less forgiving. Looks great and adding the angle AL across the ribs should help stave off rib end cracking. Have you decided what to do for...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

    1980 Holiday 181

Awesome! Another SC boat saved from the dust bin of history. (y) From the pics of the Chief it looks to have an OMC from the color of the motor. Those drives are obsolete with no parts support making a repower to either Mercruiser or an outboard if so inclined if nothing else for reliability.

    New Journey

The SW drains, 2 will drain out water twice as fast just makes sure you drill the hole with the transom out and laying flat so when installed it has that perfect 15 degree pitch when installed. The nav light is way down the road in the finishing stages. I added LED strip lights on my SS when...

Post a pic of your starcraft!

That's going to be a ton of aluminum fun right there and one heck of a resto commitment. (y)

That is awesome! Congrats on the launch and all the hard work seems to have paid off in lots of smiles.

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

The wooden motor pad is not needed and causes issues like corrosion as well as it will rot over time. I covered the area on my SS with an AL plate to cover non standard BIA mounting holes and some minor pitting. You may have the same issue with non standard mounting holes for your new motor.

Smart Tabs on an ‘87 SS201?

Yeah they stopped putting in the bracket at the bottom to hold the transom as it was found to not be needed, my 79 SS doesn't have one either. Still the transom wood doesn't go clear to the bottom of the boat. there's some distance of maybe 1 - 1.5" so that's right where the bottom support of...

Smart Tabs on an ‘87 SS201?

They are adjustable if you find the full force is too much you can lower it. You can use the wood screws in the transom but the bottom fasteners need to be different. I used closed end blind rivets for the bottom fasteners of the tabs and I used some 5200 as well as an adhesive/sealer.

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Welcome to channel tin and thanks for the nice pics. You are right that 15'r is a rare model and to add to the rarity some, there were only a few years in the mid 80's that SC made half lap sides and half smooth. My next conquest is, (if there is one) would be a 15' V5 Holiday That 3 cyl...
