    198x SS-150 rebuild

I have a sliding seat and still not enough. I even modified it to move the seat further back on it then it was designed. Still not enough. As for the backing plate, not sure I follow what you mean. Can you use a bigger backing plate or move it? SHSU

30 inches to center of seat mount or front of mount? Mine is 30 inches to center and wish I had another ~8 inches. The steering wheel will jut out farther then you think and hit your knees. As for the medal bracket in the way. Can you install a rivet nut where the bolts need to go on the...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

I am 6' 2" as well and can attest to hitting the dash/wheel. Didn't plan that out very well... lol I kind of "fixed" it by going to small steering wheel. Definitely have to muscle it around, but works for what I need. As for the T- nuts, I epoxied mine in and ran a tap back through it to...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Sucks but was bound to happen. At least the paint correction will be easy with what you have on hand. I ran into the same issue. I decided to go the other way and get taller rather then shorter. The window is to short to be of much use unless you are really low, plus it removes so much of...

I like the blue. Looks similar to what we chose too. As for the orange peel, nobody will ever notice but you. People will just be impressed when the find out you did it yourself. SHSU

We all made similar "mistakes"/corrections. Just think of it as extra protection/coverage. SHSU

Such a pretty Turtle. I like what you did with the stripe. Following original paint or you making your own design? SHSU

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I echo @MNhunter1 , find a replacement cable cheap and go with it. I have the seastar NFB system as well and don't see an advantage if you already have the rotary system. Now if we're talking hydralic that is a different story. SHSU

We are our own biggest critiques. Others wont notice and will be impressed when they find out your did the rebuild yourself. That being said, I am bad at imagining.... I need pictures ;);););) SHSU

Not familiar with your engine, but wouldn't expect it to shake as bad as you mention. Might do some Googling to see if others have experienced similar. Weird that it goes away under power. As for hanging a new motor, I am with you on what the extra weight will actually add. Also the price is...

How much shaking we talking about? My 1970's Evinrude vibrates the hull at low speed, but not something I would think abnormal for an engine of that age. As for the carbs, you using a ethanol based fuel, you using a fuel stabilizer? SHSU

JB water weld works good, or JB weld with a backing plate for the holes. As for Fiberglass on the transom, usually 2 or three is all you need. Just make sure to account for the extra thickness of the fiberglass build up when cutting your transom. SHSU

Use whatever you can get locally/easily. When it gets scratched, will be easy to repaint with the same color/paint. Just my 2 cents SHSU

    1987 Starcraft islander 190v?

If you are taking bow out of the front cover, make sure the windows won't be impacted. I found my windows were designed for a curve, so going flat wouldn't have worked with the original windows. SHSU
