    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Going from 5/32 to 3/16 for the gunnels is an idea, I'm sure your trim will still cover them mine did.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Yes SC used the steel mandrel blinds on my Chief and I replaced all the blinds to include the gunnels because they were rusted out and loose. They also left a bunch of the snapped mandrels inside the boat and this is what was left behind, a rusted powder.

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

If you can envision it then it can work, it just has to be scaled for the size of boat you have. You could take a fish cleaning table and modify it as well to have those amenities.

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

That pour in foam is the bane of AL boats, not sure why anyone would want to use it. Yeah it does look like a large amount of crud and corrosion is under the foam from the pics.

    21' Holiday Rebuild

I like the AL side panels, wonder how they would look with marine vinyl with adhesive on them rather than paint? My V5 model doesn't have the side trays, the panels go to the underside of the gunnels but you get the idea how they look with vinyl on them.

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

Why not both? Nothing like having all your bases covered for fishing and cruising. 😃 The 22' Islander are massive compared to the 18'rs and yeah they made the 26' Islander Sportsman model too. The 26'rs are truly massive but not in the way of beam or sides just more length. Just look at the...

Post a pic of your starcraft!

Looks like a 22'r to me with a nice hard top.

Islander/Chieftain project ponderings. Building the ultimate big water Starcraft?

Not very many guys with the monster tin and none of them have really started and finished their projects as far as I can remember here on iboats. A 16'r is a great boat for small waters but I found it was not large enough for my needs and that's why I went with the 18' SS for fishing. It was...

My first Starcraft I just picked up

Current drop and resistance is the main reason, loosing amps makes for hard starting motors if they loose rpms when cranking.

Garage Find 22 Starcraft Sport Center Console in real nice condition. Your thoughts

Great find! (y) "** If anyone has additional information pertaining to the history on this model boat please let me know your thoughts." I can say with certainty that is not the original bottom paint or decals for an 86 model year. I have to wonder about the bottom paint and the color? Is...

My first Starcraft I just picked up

Cranking battery should be as close as you can get it to the motor with as short of cables as possible. Lots of angst and worry has gone into battery placement over the years here and really for no good reason unless it's a 14'er

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

On the hull braces, personally I would add them to any boat of the era that doesn't have them from the factory, especially a Mariner that doesn't have side panels. You don't have to get them under the rib ends since the factory didn't do the bends it's tough to make the angle right and have the...

    Console placards

Those other placards are not a requirement and I've never seen them on a Starcraft before.

ISO 88 Starcraft magnum 150 literature

Not much experience around here with the glass models, we're a bunch of tin heads. ;) Only iboats info I could find http://boatspecs.iboats.com/Starcraft_Marine__1988/bp/54br1466y

Painting decks, I would use some hardener and non skid additive like the Epifanes beads. https://www.epifanes.com/page/nonskid-beads

    1st boat - 1981 Starcraft SS 160

Those numbers are alright for that motor with it's age, I would run it until it dies which would most likely be many years to come, that 90 is not over worked at all on a 16'r.

1978 18ft Mariner: Getting Ready for June 2021 Splash..!!!

I see someone has already been into your Mariner with the addition of the green foam under deck. Are you certain this is a 78 model year? Reason I ask is that it should have the rib end braces by 78. Some advice, I know that you want to be done by June which is a very ambitious time table but...
