Garage Find 22 Starcraft Sport Center Console in real nice condition. Your thoughts

Yeah I have a few SW stern pics, looking back to find some of it outside. The SW is 3 pieces, the center pan and the 2 side 'wings' that attach to the gunnels and transom. I replaced all the solid rivets holding it together and put new sealant in the seams. I'll post some out of the boat pics if...

Garage Find 22 Starcraft Sport Center Console in real nice condition. Your thoughts

Yeah my SS has a one piece splashwell, no big concern in taking out the spalshwell and it's best to do it anyway so you can clean the inner transom skin of any corrosion. Kind of a wonky pic from the inside overhead perspective but this is how my SW looks. I cut the hole to put in a deck plate...

Shoestring Starcraft SS160 Resto-mod - let the long slow road begin

I've thought about making a spray rail brace 'how to' but very few people who don't have them are interested in adding them to their builds. In other words when I suggest it I get ignored or someone suggests "weld er up" or "smear goop inside" when the side splits out of their boat. I used...

    16’ Starcraft restoration

There I fixed it, you just need a light skin of the epoxy stuff to fill the pitting.

    16’ Starcraft restoration

Those transom pits are really some of the best I've seen. Use some cleaning vinegar to help neutralize the corrosion in the pitting and a wire wheel to get into the pits. Then what post of us do is either use Marine Tex or JB Weld to skin over and the pitting. Personally I use Marine Tex for how...

    Hello all, new here.

Find your motors serial or model number plate is the first challenge, after that getting outboard parts is easy. I use a pretty specific website that sells OEM parts and may be a competitor of iboats so I won't be posting it here.

Garage Find 22 Starcraft Sport Center Console in real nice condition. Your thoughts

Good work on the motor, can't be too careful with oldies that have sat for years. Up next for it water pump kit and of course gear oil change? If you have the old gray primer bulb fuel lines that have turned stiff replace it, the liner inside of them comes apart which is probably your tapioca...

    Hello all, new here.

The motor will need some attention for sure. Pull the spark plugs and drain the gear case oil. Spray some fogging oil in the cylinders and turn it over by hand, replace the plugs with new. Inspect gear oil for signs of water and if it is one of the electric shift models you'll need to use...

Yeah that's the 70's avocado green, you could even get appliances in that green.

    1965 Starcraft Holiday Restomod

Most times just dropping the coin on OEM bellows is all it takes as they fit better and the rubber is more mailable. Tools, I would get an alignment tool with bearing driver that also seats the driveshaft bellow ring seal on the A1 G2. Bellows expander tool for the job too.

1982 Starcraft Center Console 18' Rebuild

Guys with deep corrosion pitting have used the acid but I don't know about using it for surface prep before painting, never have heard of anyone using it for that. I used a palm sander over the entire surface area with 220g to break the smooth surface tension on the AL prior to painting. I hate...

    19?? Starcraft Jetstar

That would look pretty cool with the slope on the windshield. I bet that little flat bottom 14 would scoot with a 60 horse pushing. (y)

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Yeah I worked for the county here and the road dept moved leaving piles of old signs. They said throw them away we don't want them so I helped myself to what I needed or wanted. Oh and a typo, the AL is 5052, same as used in our boat hulls.

    Islander gas tank support

I would find some way not to use wood in the very bottom of the hull that supports fuel. Wrapping in glass is not going to keep away the rot forever, I'd use aluminum with padding as part of the tank sits on the ribs. My 18' V5 had a 2x4 under the aluminum tank bed that laid on the center of...

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sorry yeah, must of had too many things going on in my head and didn't explain. The transom TM mount with a pole that has a transducer on the end. I've seen the Minn Kota and Hummingbird, they clamp onto the transom using a TM mount so zero hole drilling.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

Nice, an early 70's model and now comes the hull clean up and repair phase that takes the longest most times. I mention this to most of the early pre hull brace SC owners that they should consider adding them to their boats to keep them from suffering from future side splitting issues at the...
