    What is this?

Is there a aluminum type tag just above the engine starter? Clean the casing of the EFI's "ECM" as there should be some stickers on it that should tell a bit more about the engine designation model it would have been/fit which looks to be an Alpha stern drive and possibly engine year which that...

    mercruiser fault codes

Is this on an Outboard or Mercruiser stern drive type boat? All those are usually normal codes you'll see on engine applications that don't typically utilize these sensors... They're disconnected so they create a code that will usually only be read when a scan tool is connected.... If the...

    496mag no start issue.

If you are throwing a bunch of codes consistently after clearing them then usually a bit more often than not that’s more of an bad ground type connection somewhere than actual bad parts… Or maybe you have a bad internal PCM component issue… You have 2 engine’s? If yes and you go this route...

    496mag no start issue.

If you haven't yet, Try unplugging the trim connector, see if you get your 5 volts back and then see if the engine will start. Also just to be sure, maybe try checking/asking around to see if maybe either your or other boats in the area may have been struck by lightning recently.

    Mercruiser Engine serial numbers

It’s possible the serial tag was moved over but I don’t believe it common to do it but maybe a more thorough marine company did it vs what I recall hearing/seeing in years past from others. That location is unique for Mercruiser and generally a remanufactured engine from MerCruiser would also...

And usually the serial number...

Serial number not correlating. What timing to use? Choke on power wire?

Your serial number (0M) is above the serial number 0L341000 as 0M is a newer engine model vs the 0L. 0M should be about 2001ish or a bit higher in year model. 0L is an bit older model... late 90's roughly. This mentioned, if still in place and legible, the black plastic cover over the top of...

    bellows distance

That shift cable bellows appears to be broken away from the rest of the bellows and if so it will leak a lot of water into the bilge. Distances isn't too much of an issue as long as the rubber is in good shape and the end towards the bell housing is clamped down properly which is the ring we...
