    LiFePO Batteries ???

Thanks @bruceb58 Is this the Victron Charger that you are referring to? https://www.victronenergy.com/dc-dc-converters/orion-xs-12-12-50a-dc-dc-battery-charger#pd-nav-image Why would you Ever Never buy Renogy? I have their solar panel system, along with a Victron ArgoFET isolator. I saw...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

You’ll have to look around to figure out how some of the side panels are attached. often the fasteners are on the back side or otherwise hidden

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes, the 7 AGM group 31 batteries weigh in at 72 lbs each. . . 504 lbs. total I'll be replacing all 7 with just 2 Group 24 AGM (45 lbs each) and 2 LiFePO4 100 Ah (24 lbs each) for a total weight of 138 lbs. So, 4 batteries total vs. the 7 that were there, and should be a fair amount of space...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

You'll get enough times wearing it to do the nasty work. Then, if you want save it for Halloween. :ROFLMAO:

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Much of the electrical alterations will have to do with the inverter battery bank (currently 4 AGM31's) and the accessory battery ( 31 AGM). I don't have the factory drawing of the inverter installation, by CY put a plaque of the wiring on the engine bay. The port engine is currently wired to...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

The only thing you might want to do is place some boards to support the bow section, since the bunks only go about 2/3 of the way forward and there does not appear to be a set of bow bunks. But you should be fine. Before you start cutting (if/when it comes to that) take some measurements of...

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Which type of trailer do you have? Even if you have a roller trailer, you can put some boards under the hull to act as if they were bunks just for the purpose of being a 'cradle' while doing the work.

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

There are generally 2 types of trailers . . . Bunk or Roller Bunk trailers look like this where the boat sits on wooden 'rails' . . Roller trailers have rollers to support the boat and the rollers make it easier to launch and retrieve the boat. .

Bought my first boat to cut, gut and rebuild from bow to stern, including engine. Killed my back and suffered the wrath of the fiberglass demons

Bunk trailers make a good 'cradle' . . . When the structure of a boat is cut out, the hull is as flimsy as a kiddie pool. A 'cradle' acts like a support structure to hold the hull in its intended shape while the work is done.

    Can't remove 5.7 vertically.

You should be able to get enough lift on the engine to get it slightly up off the mounts and then have it come forward enough to raise out of the boat.

I've been following along and now jumping on board. . . . Lots of threads in the restoration forum, so you can read through some and get an idea of the things you'll be doing and issues that you will run into. The foam will be dual purpose . . . structural and flotation. Boats under 20 feet...

Adding Distilled water to battery. what qualifies as distilled?

Just to add to the prior comments . . . rain water would not necessarily be considered 'distilled' if it has come in contact with any surface (roof, ground, boat canvas, bucket, etc) as it would have picked up some mineral/foreign content in the process. Folks who use steam irons or upholstery...

Adding Distilled water to battery. what qualifies as distilled?

Many pharmacies sell distilled water . . . usually stocked right next to the 'purified' water.

    Can't remove 5.7 vertically.

Based on seeing a few pictures from the Internet . . . I'd consider removing the engine hatch/rear seat assembly as it looks to be held on by a piano hinge that is visible from the top side of the boat.

    Can't remove 5.7 vertically.

Posting an additional picture or 2 may help with responses, but generally . . . What ever lifting mechanism you are using . . . Remove as much partitioning that may be around or forward of the engine as you can. Raise the engine a fraction of an inch (or so) to take the weight off of the...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

I cleaned up a few of the notes, etc. in the diagram. Although the diagram look busy most of it (physically) is located along the engine room bulkhead and the 2 engine room electrical panels. EDIT: 2/2/2024 . . . a few more edits to the picture. .

    LiFePO Batteries ???

That would be more of a lead-acid situation. With the LiFePO4 batteries, the BMS is in charge of short protection, over-charge protection, over-discharge protection, and cell balancing. So, one battery would protect itself from the other in a parallel connection. There are precautions with...

    LiFePO Batteries ???

The BMS would be 'in charge' of disconnecting the battery. . . sort of depends on how much functionality is within the BMS. I'm not really concerned about it . . . until such a thing happens

    LiFePO Batteries ???

Yes, I'm not sure about the difference of LFP vs lead acid, but my thinking is that if the battery 'goes bad' the BMS will (should) shut it off. Hopefully, this theory will remain untested
