I was already planning to add a separator so yes, I think that will work just fine. I just put the filter cover back in place. Also, Yes on the ethanol gas. I do believe it was getting to coloration from the filter though because its coming out clean now. The fuel in the boat is also brand new...

Im not sure how much this helps but my boat is a 68 and came with one of the pre alphas. I upgraded to a newer alpha one and the pin and bushing setup is different. Might cross reference some numbers online and see what you can find. There's a couple of sites that have all of the part breakdowns...

So I noticed the fuel in the carb had a dark orange tint to it, I pulled the carb apart and there was a bunch of white junk in the filter. I cleaned everything out and put back together. Gas was still orange. Today I pulled the filter off of the fuel pump to inspect and the filter was in 3...

So this boat here was a big inspiration for me when I first started this project. I was just scanning marketplace and what do you know. I never imagined I would see this one up for sale...

I was originally planning to have all of the cleats and misc. parts rechromed but I have decided to have them ceramic coated instead. I have a friend that does it on the side and I have been pretty impressed with the stuff he has done in the past. Going with this shimmer aluminum color, its not...

    1968 StarCraft Holiday restoration

Today was a really productive day, I was able to tie up a bunch of loose ends. I am still waiting on some parts to freshen up the outdrive. Also a bit of advise for anyone that removes their windshield. There is a mounting bolt behind the shift lever and it is almost impossible to put back on...

Video link from the other night. Fired the engine after some more work on the carb. I got it to run pretty good but its not perfect and starts to miss here and there. The Carb is pretty worn out after all these years and I think I am getting a vacuum leak around the choke plate shaft. its pretty...

Make sure you have the boat cradled true if you are installing braces. when the gunwales and other braces aren't installed, its easy for the hull shape to change. If you install the braces in this case you might have issues getting things back together. I almost made this mistake.

Now that I am staring to think about paint, do I need anti-fouling paint if the boat is not going to stay in the water? Also looking for advise on paint process. I have a pretty nice airless sprayer I was thinking about using but I cant seem to find much info on using them to spray boats. It...

Progress on the Fuel Tank Tray. There is not enough room on either side to use the standard mounting brackets so this was what I came up with. I plan To use aluminum or rubber straps over the top and I have neoprene padding for underneath. I wanted a bigger tank but was having a hard time...

I came up with this mount for the bilge pump. It was a real PITA to install. I should have done it before dropping the motor back in.

The original (not sure of the actual term) top skin was in pretty bad shape with a lot of excess holes and dents. I had a sheet of 5052 laying around so just went ahead and made a new panel. I also wanted a hatch so I would be able to access the tight area in the future for any repairs etc. This...
