    Glue for kneeboard pad

Hey y’all, My neighbor is pretty awesome. He sold his boat years ago and is now slowly cleaning out his garage. Gave us some kids skis and a knee board. Both are in great shape minus the pad (foam covered in nylon) for the kneeboard which is separating from the board (epoxy) itself. Looking...

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

@airshot I have no problem telling people where to sit and what to do. Their other option is swimming. 35mph would be fast enough for me. Im happy anywhere from 30-35. @flyingscott It is not the big foot. The prop for my motor is for the standard gear case. 4.25” hub exhaust, 2.07 gear...

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Dang @airshot I would not expect a 4 cylinder 2-stroke to weigh so little. Those must be small cylinders!! Considering I was 7 when that motor was built, its no surprise I havent seen one. Wasnt calling you a liar, I was just in disbelief. So weight distribution…. All there is to move...

    Leaking at a rivet

Correct fix is replace the leaking rivets with new solid rivets. Short term fix is put a blind rivet in there covered in goop or some other sealant. Then keep an eye on it. Wont be as structurally strong but should stop the leaks.

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Ah yes it would have to be removed. Doubt you could do it while still attached. So rivets may not work. If welding wont work either then SS bolts would be the only choice left.

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Thanks @jimmbo Ive read all about the cup rake shape thickness dia etc and everything seems to be a big IF hahaha. Thats a cool avatar pic of the boat flying out of the water. In a nutshell, basically I just need to try a prop and see if it works cause theres no way to accurately guess which...

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

@jimmbo Maybe I wasnt clear in what I said. The bow pushes down enough to feel like it just wants to go faster. Trim can lift the bow by barely trimming up. In no way does the motor want to come out of the water unless Im screwing around on sharp turns going too fast, and even then its hard...

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Im not concerned with top speed but keeping my rpms within the 5000-5500 range is important to me. A 3-4 drop in pitch is a lot more than I was expecting moving to a 4-blade. I hardly use the trim at all, only when people are in the bow of the boat and I need to lift the front end a tiny bit...

    198x SS-150 rebuild

Looks good! I had to add new wings to my knee brace as well. I chose to use solid rivets to attach the new wings to the brace. Something you could easily do by yourself and would save a few bucks vs SS bolts and nuts.

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Yes, brand new 2023 4-stroke. 356 lb motor but I already balanced the boat out a bit by putting the 18 gallon fuel tank forward. Rides nice but yes, a little stern heavy depending where people sit. With my rear bench seat Im expecting even more weight in the stern. So its mainly extra people...

Mercury 75hp on aluminum 16’ Starcraft

Hey everyone, After rebuilding my boat, I recently put a new motor on her. I started with a standard propeller on the recommendation from the shop where it was installed. Id say they guessed pretty well. I will list propeller stats below. My goal is more stern lift, better handling, and mid...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Thanks @Watermann The repurposed ladder bench seat was a fun challenge. Just need to add a few side pads for the corners to complete it. In the future Id love to have the boat professionally upholstered but my work will do for now. That or I will learn to sew from someone. Im guessing we...

Yea Sharpie!! Congrats on getting back in the drink. As for the motor, shsu nailed it. After that someone will want to know compression numbers.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Yessir! Pretty happy with how the bench seat turned out. Now I just have to get the clay stains out of the white vinyl… 🤦‍♂️ Will definitely be more careful with the sharp turns, especially once it gets a 4-blade prop, unless that increases my holding power on turns.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

2 things did happen though worth mentioning. We were doing tight turns yesterday and when I throttled down to come out of one, the chine caught and it tossed me from my seat. Very surprised and lucky I only took a knee - humbled me quick. Other was going up against some decent wakes...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Had a blast out on the lake with fam n friends. Bench seat was a huge hit with the Admiral and friends. Definitely completes the boat and adds much needed seating/storage. Will add more pics after I get the boat cleaned up in a bit. TnT on the motor definitely works when I have weight up...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Been a while since Ive put any work into the boat, but we have been on the lake every chance we get! Took my buddy, the PO, his Admiral, and our kids out for a spin on Thursday. Both were really impressed by the work I put into it as well as the power of the new motor. We put the boat to work...
