    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

It might be overkill, but here is a 16'r I saw on another group. Of course the just weld her up crowd was the loudest

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

Thanks, lots of fun and don't think of it as work. :) That pricing is odd, didn't think AL was a supply and demand item it should have been priced by the amount of material one would think. Yeah the .100 is the right thickness for the transom skin and if the .250 was cheaper why not use it...

    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Lots of soggy wood corrosion going on with that transom skin, welcome to the party pal! ;)

10' bunks on a 16'r, a few feet too long that your hull won't sit on. My 18'r on 8' bunks has some bunk with no weight up at where the bow starts to V. The only place you can put the single set of bunks is between the outside strakes far out as you can.

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

I deleted the all the rails on my Chief, makes for a less cluttered look to my eye. I would use .080 -.100 AL for a the cover plate, thickness of it really isn't an issue it's just to keep it sealed up is all.

I have returned... with a Starcraft this time!

Sure hope your motor has a 12 pole stator in it too, that one says "12 pole only" so it must not have dip switches to change it.

    Starcraft Hull design changes

Belly tanks came about starting with the 1978 V5 models, the smooth sided front runner to the mid later 80's V models

Early Starcraft Super Sport dashboard ideas?

The V5 helm cluster is specific to that era from the factory. Some nice helm mods have been made on the SS model builds seen on @budski threads. He has a how too in there as well.

1985 StarCraft Islander 221v fixer upper.

Welcome to the Starmada tin looney bin, I love me some cabin cruiser tin, not too many het from start to finish, especially the bigger ones. I'll be interested in seeing your Islanders fuel tank when removed, my 22' V5 Islander tank was missing when I got the boat for my retirement project.

    191 Islander wont plane off

If everything was fine and now it's not then most likely a loss of power due to weak spark or fuel system restriction. Changing fuel filter and tune up should help.

Post a pic of your starcraft!

Nice to see another Chief that hasn't been attacked by sawzall savants desire for an open tub. (y)

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Good representation of how corrosion starts underneath those wooden motor pads and it always amazes me how much ferrous metal bolts end up in boats.

Post a pic of your starcraft!

Nothing like jumping right into 30 feet of tin needing love and affection! (y) 😂

    1983 starcraft ss180 restore

Welcome aboard and to the Starmada, You have one of the 80's lots changing models that is half smooth half lap side. After the V5 run and before SC went totally away from the laps and swooshes. (y) The 18'rs will run fine but not be a speed demon with the 88 or 90. I'm running a 115 Merc now...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

I would delete that outside wood motor pad, no need for it. I replaced mine with AL only because there were some non BIA standard mounting holes. The wood will only become a problem sooner or later and cause corrosion between the surfaces. Glad you were able to find the transom wood was...

    1974 starcraft islander overhaul

Welcome aboard, Yeah those are cool looking Islanders, what I call the old gangster chopped look. What drive set up does it have now would be the deciding factor in repowering.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Sorry, I was referring to that green stuff in the pic, I'm thinking was some sort of deck covering just didn't know what it was made of. So does the transom wood have AL on the inside covering it? Or is it just me but I can't see any painted wood
