The well traveled 1979 Starcraft 18' V5 SS

Everything fuel related gets cleaned, replaced or rebuilt on my motors and this one got the works too. One cool tool I got to help with this is a cable tie gun as those fuel lines can be a bugger to get the ties tight in their odd locations. So just in case you guys didn't know you don't use...

    Facebook boat groups...

Vent.... rant... or something, somewhere along those lines... I'm in some really good FB boat and motor groups that give me chances to help others as well as learn from others. Lots of pics and instant gratification for most but that's where the shine goes off for me. Some groups have strict...

1995 Merc 115 2+2 idle problems... need ideas!

Yeah that's the 2+2 moniker these motors have. I'm through all the linking portion of the link and sync, just waiting for someone to help out with turning the key for me while I verify timing. None of the timing adjustments on the throttle arm are labeled as such so I'm thinking some goof may...

1995 Merc 115 2+2 idle problems... need ideas!

I'm in need some more ideas on my 1995 Merc 115 2+2 Ser#0G176502. Carbs cleaned, new gaskets and no adjustments made to floats. Fuel pump and accelerator pumps rebuilt. All fuel lines got new cable ties and bad lines replaced. Fresh non E fuel. Idle screws out 1-1/2, just waiting to get on water...

The well traveled 1979 Starcraft 18' V5 SS

My exhaust cover plate 4 layer sandwich was a PITA, torquing 35 bolts in a maddening pattern  but it tested out water leak free! But... the motor was running rough with a high idle. Found out why, the accelerator pump diaphragm is bad with fuel leaking out and obviously into the feed...

New to StarCraft boats and this forum. Looking for help on restoration project

Welcome aboard  Looks like you have the largest fishing/utility boat in the Starcraft fleet, a 16'r that I've not seen here before, most prevalent are the 14' models like I have and yes the Seafarer is the only model I know of that is a 16' fishing/utility with the bench seats...

    Fleet addition, 1977 V5 Islander V220

Another road trip out of State but Oregon was an easy drive to get this 22' OB V5 Islander jewel from a super nice guy on the Facebook SC group. He also had a fleet of 4 SC boats until I got there. :joyous: With the deal done I latched onto the big 22'r and started for home. I had noticed...

The well traveled 1979 Starcraft 18' V5 SS

I found a local deal on a rotten glasser that I just couldn't pass up. A very robust galvanized trailer under it and an oil injected 1995 Merc 115 with low use, the boat hadn't been used in 5 years so some carb cleaning will be in order. The motor I believe will be a nice upgrade from the older...

    Deadrise

The deadrise in the transom of the SC boats is is what was changed in 1965 to what most were through to the recent models with some changes being made to the forward and bow deadrise. Pre-65 the transom deadrise wasn't there, it was a rounded flat bottom style. Islanders or Chiefs will have the...

    1966 Starcraft Holiday Engine Repower

On this 65 Holiday I worked on last month is a factory vent that is crazy, look at the rectangle vent above the drive on the transom, that's wide open with just the grate over it. A guy wouldn't want the coming off plane swell to over take you or strong following seas :faint2: Not everything...
