    Four Winns hull strength

As Scott so colorfully indicated . . . boats will typically take a lot more pounding than the people on them. So, you will give up long before the boat does. Since you are talking about a fairly new boat, you also have far less to be concerned about with structural rot issues, which can result...

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

The car has right around 54K miles Many of the fault codes were 6-8K miles ago, but they don't seem to go away with the code clearing function. I think the tech stuff has gotten ahead of the ability to service in some regards, and the results is the 'parts cannon'.

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

Today, I checked for a set of 'radiator shutters' . . . found them . . . right behind the kidney shaped front grill pieces. I had no idea of such a thing, but I guess cars have them now. The error code 138701 seems to indicate that the shutter opened too soon or too much, based on the...

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

Yes, my previous car was a 2006 Mercedes C230 . . . terrible in the snow. I kept it for 13 years and put about 150K miles on it. I tried to get a Mercedes Wagon, but everything on the CPO market was a dark color and I wanted a light color. So, I started looking at the BMW's . . . there...

the Formula website has 'vintage' brochures that you can download . . . Here is one from 1978. https://www.formulaboats.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/1978-Formula_Signa-Brochure.pdf A 1978 boat, being over 40 years old will need some inspection to determine if it is solid, or possibly has...

CEL does not come on, has never come on, so these faults all seem ‘noise‘ level, not critical

Quick Update . . . It looks like I have the 8 fault codes as being persistent, meaning they are still there/reappear after clearing. One of them is the gas cap probably not doing its anti-venting thing properly. Another is something about the radiator shutter mechanism not working properly...

I get a fault code, the description, and the mileage when it occurred. By example, here is what I am seeing for the 4 remaining engine faults. Not sure why the App (Carly) has not cleared them. .

Well, I did a couple iterations of clearing codes and re-scanning. So, this is the net of the current codes. Only 8 issues, down from 170 . . . the Carly app still thinks that's 'Bad'. What, no credit for good progress? :ROFLMAO: .

There is also a special sensor on the negative battery cable that senses if the battery is having issues. If/when the battery is below certain parameters, it tells the computer not to start the car. That was one of the first things I checked when diagnosing my no-start situation. All seems...

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

Yes, if/when you change the battery, there is a 'registration' process which basically tells the computer that the battery is new and to use a 'new' battery charging profile. As the battery ages, the charging profile adjusts since the battery typically does not charge as well.

Yup, you are probably right about the simple cars being a thing of the past, because they all have similar gadgetry. While researching my no-start issue, I came across this video of why used BMW's are so inexpensive. I have to admit, the car was not much money - I bought it CPO w/ 25K miles...
