    Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... Check the bolt patterns of the starters,.... Straight across is the 12" flywheel, staggered pattern is the 14" flywheel,.... The 228 is the exact same long block as the Volvo, so there's no step down, just abit older,....

    Ayuh,..... To find where the water is entering the oil, you isolate the block's cooling passages, 'n pressurize to 'bout 15 psi,..... To see where the cylinder is loosing compression, you turn the motor so that cylinder is at Tdc, then pressurize that cylinder to see whether it's leaking...
