trolling for hours then oil pressure alarm goes off

Agreed wonder if he hit something in water or coupler gave up the ghost as the back and forth of trolling can be tougher on splines. Would think oil alarm is a red herring and engine stalled for some reason hence oil pressure alarm with ignition still on.

    5.0LX surging/stumbling

yes coil can cause it but coils rarely fail unless the sensor inside dist is leaking voltage when car is off heating up coil ( had that on a VW back in the day) more times than not on TB if it is actually an intermittent ignition issue it will be the sensor inside distributor or ignition...

    TB 4 AND 5 COILS

12 v is correct for TB ignition supply to coil + . I suspect that is a max input voltage but have never seen that before either

    5.0LX surging/stumbling

I would also lean towards carb. to rule out ignition test with spark gap tester when its running poorly. Should jump a good 3/8" gap nice blue spark

    1989 Mastercraft prostar 190

We are trying ours out this weekend weather permitting. Although I have water skied since I was about 10 I could never slalom either by getting up on one or dropping. Not sure if at 52 yrs and 290 lbs its gonna happen but what the hell... I haven't seen the ski yet as it delivered to the lake...

2002 5,7 Mercruiser exhaust manifold keeps cracking - 5 times this summer

Agreed that is the only thing that makes sense that there is no water flow through the manifold either via the supply to bottom of manifold or supply to riser is keeping water from entering the manifold.

    Knocking noise at low idle

Can you wiggle the yoke side to side ? That’s what I could not tell in video ? If there is play there , not backlash you have an issue with the bearings

    Water intake pump

First thought is maybe the pump is sucking air on suction side and doesn’t flow til impeller is moving more. those temps are on the warm side especially the 180. Since you paid for the work I would discuss with the mechanic. Check hose clamps are ok and tight

    Disconnected wire...

It sure if the wire has anything to do with it.do you have spark ? Do you see fuel coming out of the injectors when trying to start

    Knocking noise at low idle

Can’t tell from the video if it is backlash in the gears or if it is play. Some backlash in gears is normal. With top cover removed the vertical driveshaft will move as top cover locates the upper bearing. With cover off there is only one bearing on bottom so movement is expected

    Knocking noise at low idle

Picture and video posting isn’t working at moment post on YouTube or other file sharing site then put link here. Yoke should have no play in it. Did the nut holding the driveshaft in get loose ? Should have an azz load of torque on it U joints can be hard to diagnose I just changed mine they...

    Ram down....uggh

Agreed only two issues you hear with tundras is horrible fuel economy and the older ones had frame rot , tacomas too. I think the turbo v 6 they replaced the 5.7 with has issues currently but Susie t they will Work through it in a year or two. The two 3.5 V6s I have had are absolutely bullet...

    Toyota/Lexus Timing Belt Change Thoughts

Double check there is conflicting info out there see a lot of info that if you have a 1MZ-FE engine after 1999 it is an interference engine, your call. I 6 or V 6 ? you may want to post on toyota nation as they are better toyota nerds than us here …

    Mercruiser or volvo

here is another reason why I like the merc alphas, assuming the boat is small enough (< 23ft/300 hp max ). replacement cost should you need a drive vastly different in the two drives. https://www.michiganmotorz.com/mercruiser-alpha-one-gen-2-outdrive...
