1975 Starcraft SS 16' Freshen Up

Good intel. Glad mine is mounted right! I get exactly 30 mph on the gps loaded or unloaded. Wondering if you improve dropping it down. Ive read other guys with our setup get 35 mph. Believe Im slower due to my motor’s internal issues.

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Haha @SHSU you have no idea!! The trailer hitch was way lower in my driveway than the back in those 2 pics and it still could touch!! I will keep it fully up until shes in the water and then still will be careful. Worked on the consoles a bit today and installed pieces for the fuel system...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

I bent some sheet AL into C’s, but only a few to brace the stringers beneath the deck. I remember seeing another post with substantially more bracing that you may be referencing. One helpful tip - when reading threads, use the bookmark option. Mark it for later and you can access it in your...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Yes sir!! Still working on it... sneak peak 😏 Borrowed the engine hoist for a few hours today. Moved the running motor onto the boat, and the non-running motor onto the motor stand. Much nicer than the big wood one and so much garage space cleaned up!! Barely got the motor on the boat...

    1978 Holiday 18

Just a thought - take it to a professional welder and have them inspect the welds. If poor, then remove. Add plate AL to reinforce everything that needs it, new rivets where necessary, and gluvit everything. Seems like the standard fix procedure from what ive read. Paint looks good from...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

In my last post I failed to mention that the gas tank is fully removable as well!! I didnt know if it would be but as long as I take off the vertical wood cover between the consoles, which Ill make removable, then can be maneuvered out. Also has the regular hatch above the fittings to keep an...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Lunch live update! Got the front deck fitted but ran short of rivets! Luckily i foresaw this coming, and ordered some to be here on monday. Hoping 100 is enough lol, cause that would be +\- 300 LF blinds for the complete deck/gunnels. Will install the casting deck as soon as those rivets get...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Tired, didnt get as much done as I was hoping to today. Will hit it hard again tomorrow. Front deck is ready to go in though, and the support piece that encases the fuel tank is in. Cut 2 hatches that will go in whenever the hydroturf goes on. One thing I really wanted was a recessed...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Thanks @SHSU I will keep that in mind. I realized that hole is where the glass would be as well... so will have to just keep an eye out for options. Riveting a patch wont work. Plug may not work either then. May need to have it welded shut or just leave it. Not sure. Also found a rusty...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Full paint no tape!! Gunnel woods done. And a little test fit of the windshield. Skeeters chased me out tonight but im halfway there. One of the PO’s drilled a nickel sized hole in the port side window frame, and that window is also missing. I can get new glass, but not sure how to fix that...

1996 Starcraft SL-12 dress up ideas??

Welcome bono, thats cool starcraft makes a little rugged boat. Havent seen one that small and new on here. Lots of ideas from bigger builds can be scaled down to your boat. Main question will be what is your intended use for it? A duck boat build is much different than a bass boat build...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Haha thanks! We are just one line different but colors look exactly the same. Since we live a few thousand miles apart, I doubt we will run into each other much n get em confused 🤪. Admiral’s happy with it and so am I!! Actually ordered decals and HIN’s last night too, along with new tow...

Blue paint is done!! (Teaser pics - tapes on) Ended up doing 4 coats... 2 was not enough and still could kind of see through it. Coat 3 was the smoothest and I probably should have stopped there. I hate being wasteful though so put on the 4th and it turned out fine. She wont win any beauty...

    Starcraft on C-list/ebay!

Interesting 16’ build some guys did. Outboard tiller jet with 2 pods for added floatation in the rear. AL flat deck and a small splashwell. Biggest thing though, they made the bottom of the hull flat!! A lot of work to cut up a boat like that. Not worth what they are asking imo, but some...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

Good to know! Definitely oil based. Its rustoleum topside paint, just gloss white and navy blue. Spec sheet from rustoleum said full cure in 3 days but i dont believe that. I will wait til the last minute to put the motor on but im going to charge full speed ahead!! Coat #1 of blue is on...

    1979 Starcraft 16’ SS Refresh

2nd coat of white is on! Went really well and Im pretty happy with it. The splash rail trim along the gunnel was the hardest to paint. Ended up doing it by hand with a little sponge brush, just dabbing paint under the lip and along it, not letting it puddle or drip. Sponge brush left it nice...
