Need a New battery ,got more for less at Wallyworld....I think

I bought an AGM and was so impressed I bought another one for another vehicle. And then a couple more. Then, ALL of them failed within a short time, so I went back to AutoZone wet cells. The only AGM I have now is on a jetski, for obvious reasons - don't want wet cells jossling around.

Need a New battery ,got more for less at Wallyworld....I think

I remove all the batteries in my boats and tractors in the Fall and charge monthly over Winter. I have an old classic car that sits in the garage next to the house and I admit to being lax with it. The car only gets driven a few hundred mikes each year and I don't bother with Winter charging...

Need a New battery ,got more for less at Wallyworld....I think

The best batteries ever in the olden days were DieHard. Now they are gone. The worst batteries I ever had were East Penn and Deka. I say that because they wouldn't honor their warranty. Currently. the "best" are Auto Zone. Having said that, my son bought a cheepee wally battery the same day...

16ft lund aluminium boat add kicker motor

Why would it be for fun? What's the difference if there is a kicker or not? Sometimes you will want to run the main all by itself. How much off center are we talking? A 1/2" or 2"? Now there's an experiment for inquiring minds that want to know. Take a clamp-on tiller and see just how...

16ft lund aluminium boat add kicker motor

I built my first boat from plans. I also bought a "kit" trailer. I mounted the engine myself. The instructions were very clear about the need to center the engine on the transom. Every subsequent boat I ever had was set up with a tape measure as well. Right or wrong? I dunno. But I think...

    Help ID a barn find.

The ebay link above is a cosmetic restoration and a wallhanger. A grand is wishful thinking. All too many people think that a pretty one will bring big bucks, but not in today's market. He might get $200 if he finds a gur that needs a decoration. Yours in that condition is worth $50. If...

Doesn't the main need to be exactly in the middle?

16ft lund aluminium boat add kicker motor

I've had some adjustable brackets and most were awful. The absolute best one is no longer in production. My current 2 boats are fitted with Panther (brand) fixed brackets. They set the OB back 6" or so and they work very well. Very strong and no moving parts. You merely tilt the kicker up...

    Size of outboard

Get a good tach and check WOT rpm. Then replace the prop with the appropriate pitch. I had that same motor on a heavier 16 footer and 4 people were fine. Prop optimization is often overlooked. Many boats thought to be underpowered can perform adequately with the right setup. Of course, if...

    Size of outboard

I DID answer the question. Back when I was a kid and had limited funds I ran smaller engines. And, I was quite SATISFIED with that and didn't NEED to go fast. The problem today is that way too many people just aren't happy with anything. BTW, my 2 newest current boats are equipped with the...

    Size of outboard

Back in the '60's I ran a 40 HP Rude and it worked quite well. Then, some of my neighbors went to 75's and I just HAD to go just as fast as them, so I upgraded to a 60 HP Triumph. It didn't make me have more fun. The bottom line is do you want to go boating with the family and have memorable...

    Is the buddy heater safe?

I also have a Buddy in my Hunting "tent" and spend hours at a time. However, a few differences. The only "fumes" are occasional flatulence and so far they haven't been sufficient to blow the place up. (no gasoline) Secondly, I have a swivel seat inside with 4 kinda large windows, so although...

    Is the buddy heater safe?

Use of Buddy heaters in an enclosed space was discussed ad nauseam some years ago. Many comments were directed specifically at RVs. I read that MyBuddy in particular was involved in a lawsuit. Since they are still in business I would guess that they made some modifications. The 2 hazards are...

Replacement Gas Cap - help needed

I used that very cap for 35 years. Only needed to replace it twice. Silicone is a good idea, but its really not that fragile.

With all that rust on the hub, maybe the inside is pitted as well. Maybe you need new hubs.

Considering PWC over boat for time being

I hear ya. Personally, I do my own maintenance for 2 reasons. First, I am sure it is done right. Second, the routine stuff only takes half an hour. I can give up the half hour, but I can't stand the boat being in a repair shop lot for 3 weeks. Nothing worse than finding the time to go...

Considering PWC over boat for time being

If your buying a PWC to save up for a "boat", you need to do "maintenance" yourself. The dealer will price gouge you for sure. Then you have to rely on the dealer's service department to not screw up. I don't do fixin' either. But winterizing and such does not require a master mechanic...

Replacement Gas Cap - help needed

You said it didn't have markings. Its clearly a Perko. Its also the one that I had to replace because they don't hold up well. Whatever you do, don't use an Attwood cap (if that's the metal one in your pics) because you'll destroy the threads. The Perko replacement is plastic and that's what...

Considering PWC over boat for time being

A PWC is a good alternative to a boat, but you need to realize that the season is shorter because of weather. I've had a boat for over 50 years and eventually wanted to try a PWC. They are so much fun that now we own both. First of all, get a 3-seater. There are times you will want to take...
