    198x SS-150 rebuild

Filling voids: I use syringes for all kinds of things when working on these boats. Maybe fill one with 3M 5200 or epoxy, then squirt it in there? 3/16" rivets can be drilled out and riveted with 1/4" rivets.

    Storing fishing poles in gunwale?

Amazingly, I only found one pic from my rod rack installation and that was after it was completed. But here it is.

    Ranger Vs Nitro Bass Boats

I'd go with a Ranger. Back in the day, the Ranger was the elite boat. I'm guessing that's still the same now. I tested out the Nitro boats years ago and found the quality lacking. In particular, the underside of the gunnels had raw fiberglass edges which could easily cut your hand. Maybe...

    StarCraft kingfisher rebuild

Leaving it low will negatively affect performance. Do you have the engine flat down on the back of the transom? If so, you may be able to raise it up using the mounting holes on the motor.

Not quite enough. "For example, a cubic foot of fresh water weighs approximately 62.4 lbs, while a cubic foot of salt water weighs approximately 64 lbs."

    Power Boat sinks in Michigan

It's pretty stupid to not be wearing a PFD, especially while a boat is sinking.

    Budget Boat Covers

Last week I received an order for a Sealskin cover. It was $240 for the cover, plus more for extra straps and an outboard cover. Total was about $300 but I got a 15% discount. The cover was very good quality and I liked it very much, but it was too big. I'm in the middle of the return...

Beginner Buying Used Question Re. Sea Trials

One thing about titles... make sure that any seller has the title in their own name. There are folks who "flip" boats by purchasing from someone with a valid title, hanging onto it for awhile and then reselling the boat without changing the title or registering it in their own name. They'll...

    Life Jackets

We always wear our life jackets whenever the main engine is running. And I always use my kill switch. Conventional jackets are what I've always used, but I'm considering the auto-inflate type PFDs. Pricey, though. 😬
