83 Chevy 350 SB valve springs w uneven heights? Is that normal?

Looks like you are using different height retainers and or keepers on the valves. I ran into a similar issue on a 389 Pontiac - you never know what someone did on an older engine that has been apart. Would take them apart - valves could have different stem lengths, seats could be receeded in...

Leave it alone. Probably last another 20 years if the alignment is good. why did the flywheel need replacing ?

    06 4.3 mercruiser no start

Does that have the correct wire colors for the slave solenoid? Maybe some one used a aftermarket replacement ? When you get your circuit tester or volt meter- look for power where BT mentions it.

Gear lube poured out of gimbal bellows (Alpha 1 Gen 2)

looks like some moisture has been in the ujoint bellows. any corrosion near the seal will kill the seal in short order I would do the u joints while you are in there. If they have the internal clip MOOG 315G or equivalent will work

    Hybrid Vehicles

Yes and No -There are plug in hybrids that can go a very limited range on the battery only - examples of this chevy volt, toyota has been making pluig in hybrids for a while. Toyota Rav 4 plug in I think is called prime. Has like 40 miles of range before the gas engine makes the power. I think...

What's the best prop size? - 22 ft tahoe 228 Merc Alpha One Gen II 220 HP

if relatively identical prop dropping 2" in pitch should raise your RPM 400 or so at WOT. If you are new to swapping props that is another reason to stay with Aluminum. I cut my teeth trialing aluminum Michigan Wheel Vortex 4 blade props on my old boat, which was a small 17 ft Bowrider...

    VP 5.0 2005 vs. Merc 2005

I would think you want more HP than a 5.0 in a 23 ft boat unless you just putt along. As mentioned depending on the area, merc mechanics and parts tend to be more available and cheaper.

What's the best prop size? - 22 ft tahoe 228 Merc Alpha One Gen II 220 HP

Would assume you either have the 5.0 carbed 220 hp V8 or the 4.3 MPI 220 hp V6. Carbed max rpm at WOT is rated at 4400-4800 MPI I think goes 4600-5000 Both have rev limiters that will keep you from damaging the engine. You want to prop them such that you can get to 4800-5000 rpm or so...

UFP Dexter Trailer Buddy Electric Reversing Solenoid

My coupler of different manufacture has a spot where you can put a pin in the side to lock out the brake feature. I use the pin that locks the lever for the ball. It simply keeps the coupler from compressing and applying the master cylinder. Would be surprised if yours doesn't have some way to...

Boating with small children ( Toddlers ) Best Life Vest.

My girls are 19 and 21 now so hard to recommend a brand but as infants we would put the infant car seat carrier on the floor of the boat when we went for a ride. They typically took a nap. Later one of the infant jackets with the flap behind the head to hold their head up...

Brand New Boat Owner- Prop Question

Depends on your boating skills and where you boat. If there is shallow water or debris like in a river probably a good idea as not only protects the expensive SS prop but also Aluminum is easier on the gear case if you have a strike than SS. Something like a Merc Black Max, Michigan Vortex etc...

    06 4.3 mercruiser no start

Sounds like you are not getting 12 v to helm anymore. May have tripped the 50 Amp breaker or slave solenoid (relay) may be smoked. If yours is carbed they are usually on a bracket behind the carb. There is also a 90 A fuse on starter lug that could be blown and interrupting the 12v supply. I...

    Hybrid Vehicles

That is essentially what you get when you buy a reconditioned battery. If you can do it your self that's fantastic. Only issue is the cells that test good today may go bad down the road. Would suspect you will see more companies doing this work as time goes on.

    Fuel Injector Question

Yeah if you ask two different mechanics you get three different answers... that's because any of them work just fine - grease (must be Bondo's Any Grease...) , Vaseline, oil, spit what ever you have will be fine don't over think it. Just need to allow it to slide a bit

    Hybrid Vehicles

I almost bought a 21 Camry Hybrid XLE to replace my 07 Camry V6 w 250k , really really liked that car. Ended up with 21 Venza which is bigger, was really impressed with the Camry that gets 45-50 depending on how heavy your foot it.

    Hybrid Vehicles

Even a new OEM battery for a hybrid is like $3-4k I just bought a 21 Venza, since I keep them may have to eventually replace the battery, is $3200 or so not a deal killer vs buying a new car.
