2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Thanks @muc for your insights, they are very helpful. I'll start checking the voltages at the helm. I agree that there are a couple of voltage sources and they are off by more than they should be, so something is not right with the power sources. Loosing steering would be a bad thing. I...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Yes, I think it is a VV thing not an engine thing.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Yes, VesselView seems to be the problem. I noticed there is a ECM-like module under the dash panel that all sorts of wiring connects to. Maybe there is an issue up at the helm rather than the engine. The wiring is a rats nest. So maybe something at the helm has a bad connection. I’m still...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

When the engines are running the VesselView screens show 14 volts. Here is a picture while heading out of the harbor. Not sure if I have posted it previously. . . I am more comfortable that the voltages are adequate, seeing such on the Diacom screens. Just not sure why VesselView does not...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

We cannot. The Alt's are putting out 14+ volts and everything follows. If just on the solar power, the batteries are at 13.7 and the voltage to the PCM is within 0.25 volts. With ignition on . . . the batteries are in the 12.7-12.9 range and voltage at the PCM's are 12.5

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Another update . . . I spent some more time checking things on the engines. I was able to verify that the voltage on the BATT pin ( C-Pocket, Pin A4) is within 0.25 volts of the battery voltage while the system is powered up (i.e. ignition on). The PCM 'sees' the battery voltage as a little...

    Building a '93 Caravelle 1750 Classic Bowrider

Cape Cod (and the northeast) has been hot for a few weeks . . . Humidity has been terrible as well. I'd hate to be fiberglassing in this type of weather . . . all kinds of challenges to compensate for. Great for foaming the hulls though . . .

    Happiest Day of Ownership !!!

Fussing with the VesselView warnings has taken a bit of time (see my "Mercruiser 6.2 ECT" thread). As such I have not made much progress on the other fix-its and getting things dialed in on this boat. I've joined a FaceBook group for the Cruisers 328/338 and that has helped with some ideas...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Quick Update . . . I not able to verify the ground at the pins . . . need to check the wiring diagram a bit more. I did verify 0 ohms from the ground cluster at the back of the engine to the battery '-' terminal . . . so not a ground strap corrosion issue. I did find the buzzer . . . 3 of...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I survived the dentist and PT appointments and will be back at the boat tomorrow. Plan for the day is . . . 1) Try some new fuses 2) Check resistance to battery ground for the 3 ground pins on the connector(s) 3) See if I can verify that the Pin 'A4' stays at battery voltage with the PCM...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

You bring up a good point @Lou C The ground lead for the battery voltage ground pin at the PCM could have a bad connection . . . I'll see about checking that as well.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Quick Update . . . The voltage at pin A4 of the 'C' pocket connector is exactly the same as the battery. 12.87 volts I removed and cleaned the 2 amp fuse. The resistance of the fuse was negligible - same as a short circuit. I Powered the engine back up and ran it . . . still is getting the...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

Thoughts for today . . . I got to go to the dentist (looking for a volunteer to go in my place :ROFLMAO: ) Before that, I'll spend some more time out at the boat with computer in hand. I found some information (tech manual) on the PCM112 controller, and noticed that there is a battery...

    New Boat blues

MPI engines, typically don't give you much, if any HP over a carbureted engine. I've seen some people rationalize a smaller engine because of the MPI. . . doesn't really work out. Sea Rays are under powered, unless you get the highest power option. I would try a lower pitch prop to see if it...

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

My eyes glossed over just looking at the computer screens - more data than I can digest. I did not notice the voltage discrepancy- so thanks @alldodge for pointing that out.

2016 Mercruiser 6.2 ECT - long beep every few minutes???

I've come across a few forum posts on various site, both marine and automotive regarding the voltage discrepancy, but no absolute solution. Clearly nothing can be higher than the battery voltage with the ignition on and the engine not running. And nothing can be higher than the alternator...
