Been a few years since I used them but i found those spayers basically useless. If you have a compressor get a harbor freight spray gun. Either way you need to thin the paint down
I use a beam type like this for setting preload on tapered roller bearings relatively affordable. Have had great results swapping ring and pinions

Not much different. While its good to remove your drive and inspect I certainly don't every year. If you still have an original greasable gimbal and its smooth leave it alone and grease it. Grease coupler inside. I do engine oil, fuel filter and gear lube annually, grease points and my boats...
The seal behind the gimbal bearing only keeps gimbal bearing grease out of bilge so it is not critical, would not take out a working gimbal bearing to replace it. It may not even be used anymore with the newer peralube (non greasable) gimbal bearings
Ok dirt and grease ring from coupler makes...
Yeah - buy a couple in case you mess one up putting them on. Also keep some hi perf gear lube and a impeller kit on the shelf. A fuel filter doesn't hurt to have laying around either, never know when you will run into some chit, its the middle of summer and an hour drive to the merc dealer.
because sierra is a common aftermarket marine parts supplier and that's what was locally available ...
The 5.0 is a small block chevy ... the two filters long and short that Scott references or any aftermarket cross equivalent ( that means there are probably 50-60 different filter part numbers...
As mentioned would check alignment as possible cause of hard to remove.
Sometimes can be tough to differentiate between liquid from gimbal bearing grease and drive lube in bellows. Would pressure test the drive when off. Brown ring looks like grease and water mix.
Remember to glue the big...
Yes 2x4 pushing off rams. If gimbal bearing is rusted to the driveshaft can be hard to remove- this can happen if bellows leak water . Can also get seized to coupler but would not expect that given time involved.
I think there are a coupler small slots where you can put a big flat head or...
I was able to reconnect mine and cover with shrink sleeve. Best if you can solder the wires together and then shrink sleeve over or use a low temp solder butt splice
Sure this is fine. In the old days I used to squirt oil in through the spark plugs holes and bump the engine with coil disconnected.
I also have done nothing some years and that is ok too, the engine will not be damaged if it sits without fogging for a couple months.
Toyota wanted $550 for one for our 16 Highlander after we lost the second one... I saved a few bucks buying the fob on line from same dealer as they discount their web parts vs walk-in... saved about $100...
impact can certainly mess with transom assembly seal, but usually there is a hole in the outdrive... OP needs to do some investigation to see where it is leaking in before cause can be determined
