    Merc prop selector

Can you share your experience in selecting your Enertia? Up or down in pitch in reference to your existing prop?

    Merc prop selector

    Merc prop selector

Not that I'm loosing sleep over it but I wonder why the Mercury prop selector doesn't mention more prop families for my boat (21' bowrider 5.0MPI A2). No matter what parameters I input it never recommends the Mirage or the Tempest Plus.

    Date/name of Mercury props

Does anyone know why Mercury chose to name what I believe is one of their newest props, the Spitfire aluminum, the same as one of their existing props, the Spitfire X7 which is SST? Seems like strange marketing.

Should the prop have any play

Torque spec on my alpha 2 drive is 55 ft/lbs minimum. So I tighten to 55 then if no tabs line up continue tightening until they do.

better to be at the low end or top end of RPM?

I've always heard, when it comes to props, weight doesn't matter. Once it's spinning that's probably true but I've wondered, for example, if putting a heavy 4 blade stainless on an alpha 2 would cause more stress on the shift mechanisms especially lower shift cable coming in and out of gear.

    Best Brand Of Storage Cover???

I had the sharkskin one and really liked it. Held up well and didn't let water in. It was used from around 2011 to 2015.

Looking for a 35 to 38 foot boat that I can trailer

There and back is around 10 hours towing. I would hire it done. Maybe you base out of there for one summer to make it worth it. Maybe explore boat clubs.

Anyone know what control this is?

Definitely has an aftermarket look to it. Look behind and see what you can see.

    My boat is being a boat . . .

Impressive. You should market the system.

    5.0 MPI Fuel grade.

Yep, I've ran mine on 87 for 1550 hours.

Where did you get those trim sender gadgets from? Interesting. So would that enable you to replace them without having to tear into the drive?

Constant 'Two Beeps' from my Four Winns 4.3

FWIW My 2002 5.0 MPI used to do this on occasion. I upgraded my battery to 1000 MCA instead those rated below 800. I learned to keep the IAC muffler clean, the flame arrestor clean and the hose leading to it and problem went away and hasn't reoccurred for several years now.

290 SS searay twin 383 strokers

To confirm, this is occurring on both engines?

Is it possible to put the upper half of the sterndrive on first? Or do I need to put the whole drive on together?

Since you won't have the prop to reposition the shaft you can bump the starter to reposition the coupler. But frankly that method is still a PITA. With my A1G2 it's best to remove and install the entire leg. Yes it's heavy so you have to position the boat on the trailer so that the leg sits...

Inherited new boat. Unsure what it is exactly

Looks like it's been restored and maybe modified.

    J1171 Marine Trim Pump issue

Blue (think sky) up, green (think grass) down. Is it old enough to still have the separate trailer switch on the throttle control? If so does it work and the thumb switch not? Also try uplugging the pump and back in. This has fixed me a time or two over the years.
