    New prop for my boat

at 5800, he's not severely underpropped, he's slightly overpropped....so if he gets his 6000, or a little higher at max throttle by dropping 1inch pitch, or 1 inch diameter, or dropping one blade.......then he may be able to pull a tub'er faster.....but I'll almost...that's almost...bet his...

    New prop for my boat

um...is that prop kinda beat up?....it looks like some of the edges are . Without being there, I can't tell....it does look like the edges can be cleaned up using a file and sandpaper.....something you can do yourself......yep, it can make a difference..... I'd say the motor is too low. I...

    Overpowered 20ft pontoon.

honestly?...depends on the kinda person you are.... after learning about pontoons, ratings, capacities, etc., I'd not want an overpowered pontoon. But I'm a mostly manual following type..... I wouldn't buy a used pontoon that had been overpowered......

    1997 fisher freedom 200dxl 20’

well...if the capacity plate is like mine.....the 1450 or 10 is for people.. engine capacity is for the transom which has weight and HP limits...exceeding limits doesn't mean the transom will fail tomorrow, it just means it can cause issues later......you say the motor weights are close, so are...

    New prop for my boat

those pictures above are correct ..for a planing type hull...but the problem you ...and I ...have/had is that we are dealing with a pontoon boat....not a planing hull or flat type...or even a V hull.....so it gets...complicated to a newbie...and tough to explain on a forum.....they do illustrate...

    New prop for my boat

I had an '05 merc. 60 hp, 4 stroke big foot on my 24' pontoon... rpm range was 5-6000....the rev limiter kicked in at around 6100+ ....I'm sure yours is the same......but regarding your question.... you can't have both...it's a compromise..... props aren't magical. You're already close to max...

these stats are current as of today with my 4 blade, 14x14....fyi to show as a comparison. ..... you can see it's not a big differences in mpg....... I can't hit my 6000 rpm with the 4 blade, but there is a good speed differential compared to the 3 blade......but mpg is still close....more...

    90HP Mercury pushing 24' pontoon

this is what I get with my 24', twin 25" tubes, 2021 115 hp CT motor. I don't think there's any tweaking you or I could do to make mpg go up...Ive done all I know offhand...which is really nothing except propping and trimming....Underskinning maybe down the road..... I didn't know that people...

    Progess Made!

    what speed do you expect from that 25?....I've got a friend who has a mid 60's aluminum, 14' v hull . Came with a 40hp later 60's merc (a 401?).... He thinks he needs/wants a 40 4 stroke.....too heavy, I said.....I think the a 25 4 stroke ....maybe even a 20....would be perfect.... as long as it...

better to be at the low end or top end of RPM?

what I needed was a 4 blade, 14x13....and it has to fit my CT gearcase diameter.......so It seemed at that time two years ago one did not exist... It does now appear merc has a 13.8x13, 4 blade.....but what I have now works for my purposes....I still have the 4, 14x14..... The 4, 14x12 maybe...

better to be at the low end or top end of RPM?

I propped my pontoon for the higher end when not loaded so that I wouldn't lug the motor when tubing and loaded down... so my 3 blade 16x12 did cost me some speed over my 4 blade 14x14...
