Help with 1960 16ft StarCraft Viscount

Fiberglassics shows the viscount as 72” and Jupiter at 78”.. you could buy the Jupiter window and tell them to narrow it 6”. Possibly. Do you have the frame for it?

    Removing section of bowrider

Yeah it’s an 80s capri. The gauges and the windshield profile gives it away

    Removing section of bowrider

Those gauges identify what that boat is, and the plywood on the deck confirms, that boat has no structure anymore. When the boat is rebuilt and structurally sound it can be modified accordingly

    1973 Fabuglas Boat

If you have a rotten transom, the plug isn’t going to tighten up as well. But I’m going to venture a guess you have failing fiberglass in the transom and your sinking

Help with 1960 16ft StarCraft Viscount

You will need an original to send to a plastic manufacturer like UDP and it will cost about $500. My local glass shop does some plexi work and told me they could probably do mine ( ‘66 holiday 14 ) if I drop it off to them. But I haven’t had a chance

Frank helped me out yet again

I miss seeing pictures of the murals on those big Chrysler cowls. If I remember right it was in his signature.

    2013 Mazda 2 wheel bearing

I had a shop that I know from my work do the bearings and brakes for me while it was apart. He had me get the parts and he charged $200. I could have done it but I’m not setup yet. He told me the ball joint on the driver side was bad so I bought both left and right control arm assemblies. I put...

Reenforce glass hull under the waterline? - 1967 StarCraft

Glass was better in the 60s. Hand laid ect. I wouldn’t add any thickness unless you have cracks. Your pretty good on weight as well since you stayed 2 stroke

    Ruined Engine

This is common in the Subaru boxers. Get them smoking hot and the tolerances tighten up severely and it wipes the bearings… not saying that is what happened but it’s possibly what happened

    OMC 140 3.0l drive compatibility

You would be better served with a complete mercruiser setup. The 140 is the same but you will need a 1.98 drive and an exhaust manifold and all the little parts

    OMC 140 3.0l drive compatibility

Due to the very large hole in the transom for the OMC. It will take a transom rebuild which is a bit of effort and coin as well.

    Steering Wheel

Probably an old Atwood wheel. Being a lone star it for sure would have been a very 50s looking wheel

Looks like New roof and then a new boat

I didn’t really think she would go for it. But with a camper canvas it would be pretty nice. I showed her a picture of a 25’ chieftain adventurer cabin and she thought it was great… mind you I would only camp near a lake anyway

Looks like New roof and then a new boat

My wife was saying she wanted a camper. I told her that we could get an old StarCraft chieftain and use it as a boat or a camper as my dad had one when I was a kid and we camped in it on the trailer every weekend. Never left it in the water. She actually liked the idea and said she would help...

    Which Force is most Mercury?

Some of them had mercury lower units, some of them adapted thunderbolt ignition. But for the most part, they are 90% Force. Mercury branded the parts since Brunswick bought the brand from US Marine.

    Bad Transom?

I would guess that’s a bilge pump suggesting it might leak a little. Transom may or may not be bad. But on a tin boat it’s not the end of the world. And gluevit and re bucking rivits can cure any leaks. Most old riveted Tinnys you can assume will leak a little. Many people take care of the leaks...

    Bayliner engine swap??

I doubt bayliner offered it with a V8 but I bet they offered it with a V6. You should have the space. You will need to add mounts for the V8.

    1970’s StarCraft 21’ Cuddy Cabin

StarCraft put the tanks in a few places but on that one they would have above deck boxes and been used as seat bases. My dad has a ‘73 21’ when I was a kid and we restored it. Twin 20 gallon tanks
