    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Funny you would say that because I'm always looking for another one 🤔 I might have a problem

    1988 Starcraft Mariner MR 220 V rebuild

I would bend a sheet of 5052 to the "c" shape and cut the ends to fit together then weld it up. I'm lucky enough to have that ability. Bending a cap for the transom from one piece would be difficult if that is the thing you're referring. Do you have any friends in a...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Thank you. I put a thread together on this site so folks can get other design ideas. The transom skin was trashed so I cut all but 1.250" off and riveted a sheet of 3/16" in place. I welded a flange to the aluminum transom "core" and riveted the splash well on. By drilling some 1/4" solid...

My little fishing buddy holding a pair of Atlantic cod,one of my favorite fish. I have to pick my days carefully because things can change fast offshore. I always travel with two VHF floating radios, my boat has two bilge pumps with separate float switches and my kicker motor. I put my pumps...

    1976 22' SUS O/B "Hydration Break"

Adding another stringer shaped piece of aluminum with blind rivets is an easy way to increase the strength of the stringers. I wanted a 25" transom too with a small splashwell. I made a removable piece to use 20" motor if I had to.

Do you know why the lack of oil pressure? If the lifter was still in the bore it wouldn't cause it.

Press in studs should be okay with stock v/springs unless this style engine has problems. I'm not familiar with this engine but the machine shop should point you in the right direction for stud replacement. ARP is a quality brand of fasteners.

Yikes. I've had some trouble with larger profile flat tapet camshafts that I use all roller stuff now. I wouldn't think this cam is very aggressive though. Should have oil pressure with the trashed lifter.

Any silicone in the oil passage to the pressure gauge sender? A newly assembled engine will have a very small amount of metal debris in the first oil change normally.

Hope the issue is not too serious. Make sure the crank journals are smooth before reassemble. A light polish may clean it up if necessary. Very curious to see the cause

That's not nice. Any chance a lifter got out of place. That will cause low pressure and some noise. I would pull the valve cover first and look at the valve train.

I wanted a lockable storage spot for valuables when I leave the boat at public docks. Two more shelves to store things and a place for the fire extinguisher to hang. The door has been notched so it can be lifted off when halfway open.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

I picked mine from the local Mercury dealer. Expensive but worth it. Cheap aftermarket manuals aren't as detailed.

"Cut bigger cupholders into the consoles per the admirals request." You will never have too many cup holders in a boat. Mine are always full, sometimes with cups.

I do like Vinyl flooring in fishing boats but I couldn't find anything in my province. I like easy cleaning after fishing and just flood the inside of my boat with fresh water. As a owner of a small business I try to get things local if possible. Thank you. Hopefully someone will get an idea...

I picked Interlux epoxy primekote then Interdeck non-skid. If this doesn't work out I will be going all aluminum next time. The varnish was nice looking when new but I like the low maintenance of aluminum. I would rather fish then do bright work.

I originally finished my deck with spar varnish but after two summers of dog scratches, slippery and hot on bare feet it was time for something else. Heat gun and scraper then sanding back to wood.

1975 StarCraft Mariner build "The Unicorn"

When I bought my Starcraft it came with a 1999 125hp that didn't work well. I purchased a factory manual and went through all the settings and cleaned the carbs. Best book purchase ever😀 The 2+2 mercury design is a strange idea. I mostly like the engine but find the point when the other 2...

    Starcraft Holiday 18 make over

Thank you It makes hot or cold days more comfortable and gets used often. Every boat should have one. I can't take the credit for the custom sewing but I did barter auto repairs with my neighbor. He does very nice work. Here it is with two more at my dock.

May 2020 I decided to get a top for the Krusty Krab. Not sure how much I would like it so I bought a cheap one from the "fish" pro retailer. It was a 4 bow type and the longest one available. I wanted to attach the top to the window to keep as dry as possible when driving. I removed the...
