    Sneezing from underneath flywheel

You sure it's coming from under the flywheel? Looks like it might be from the top port cover and not the flywheel???? On the top carb: where's the air screw set at? Under the pack(never saw one that looks like that) the top port cover(1 of 3) might have a blown gasket?? The gasket is thin and...

    Tillotson TC-5E float needle valve

If it's running but running bad?? do the starting fluid test. Start and run at idle, spray SF around the intake side of the motor. Spray under the base of the carbs and under the pack/coils and around the 4 port covers, anywhere it might draw air into the motor. IF??? it makes the motor run/...

    Tillotson TC-5E float needle valve

Years ago the factory service dept. issued a service bulletin. They suggested/said "set the air screws out at 1 turn and leave it there" I've never found that that would work. I had 4 1988 85hp and all liked the 1 and 1/8th turn out.

Sealant for gearcase drive shaft and gear housing cap Shift shaft

Just about anything you use will be ok. I use the High Tack. Google "gasket sealers" a bunch of them show. The first one is the old OMC sealer. I prefer that but thought it wasn't available???

    1989 85hp force won’t start

The idle is set using the towershaft linkage. The "idle screws" are for the air/fuel mix at slow speed. The air screws are usually set at 1 to 1 1/8 turn out. Most will run at that setting, but some need to be set more open than that. One customer had his set at 3 turns out??? A "kick" or...

1995 Force 120 will no longer idle

The buzzer shouldn't sound when starting. Only when 12v is applied. If it buzzes when 12v is applied?? then it's doing the right thing. Should only sound when voltage is sent to it.

    Tillotson TC-5E float needle valve

Going down too far in jets can cause a bunch of trouble. Running too lean, can make it run too hot and that can cause it to burn holes in the top of the pistons( did that on a motorcycle back in 1972, burned a 150$ hole in a piston. $150 in 1972 was a BUNCH of $$$.

Sea-king Chrysler 15hp outboard motor does not start

"spark looks good to you" ?? How did you test it? If you squeeze the ball and pump the bowl full that should be enough fuel to start the motor. You using the choke?

1995 Force 120 will no longer idle

YEA!!! sounds like your getting there. Another test: run the motor and get it hot, then running at full throttle turn the key off, don't throttle back just kill the motor, then pull the plugs and check the burn. Check for all 4 plugs being the same burn.

    Tillotson TC-5E float needle valve

Granger might have needles?? Could this lead to a generally rich mixture and chronic fouling of plugs in a short period of time? Yes. It will allow excess fuel and make it run bad.

1995 Force 120 will no longer idle

NOT IDLE screws. while they will affect the idle thats not what they're for. They're for air/fuel mix at low rpms. The idle screw is on the towershaft. Set the air screws at 1 and 1/8th turn out. Then adjust from there. Once you get it running, do the starting fluid test. Start the motor, spray...

    Tillotson TC-5E float needle valve

If the needle is all metal and no rubber in the seat?? then the carb will leak fuel. IF?? the seat has the rubber in it, then be careful what cleaners and soaks and additives you use, as the seat can swell shutting off the flow. If it swells? rinse in soapy water and let air dry. The...

Best 2 stroke oil for Chrysler / Force outboards

Seafoam's a JOKE!!! The very best oil is Amsoil, also the most expensive. I had a pair of 1988 Force 85hp. used them for over 30 years. They were new and before TCW-3 the oils produced were purposely made to carbon up, both motors the rings carboned up. I caught them before the motors got...

1995 Force 120 will no longer idle

Fuel out the front of the carb: could be the fuel pump is bad? the float stuck? It sounds like the motors sucking air from somewhere. You had the carb apart. Reset the float: carb upside down- the float should be even with the carb body. Inspect the needle: solid tip?=the bowl inlet where the...

1990 Force outboard lower drive issue question

To start a PM, Just click on my Pic and it should open a page that you can start a PM. If your motors dies at low RPM's it could be sucking air somewhere. Do the starting fluid test. Start the motor, spray SF around the intake side of the motor, this includes under the bottom of the carbs and...
