Firing right up is good. Looking an engine off the back from a bad transom is not good.
A quick test on the bayliner transom is you should be able to essentially stand on the pop of the tilted engine and bounce with ZERO flex in the transom. Or bring a socket set and see if you can tighten...
A 40 year old Bayliner is 99.9% crap under any pretty you see.
A 40 year old (insert whatever name here) is 97.8% crap under any pretty you see.
