    Wiring a fish finder

Mine's powered off an always on circuit (unless I throw the main battery switch - which I do when its on the trailer). IF a single fish finder is draining your starting battery where it won't start your motor you have a weak battery that probably needs replacing. I've run mine for hours on end...

    08 Mustang Advice

Rebuild doesn't have a warranty? Any speed / motor shops around that you could shop a rebuild? Most reputable rebuild shops have warranties on the motor.

BRP reveals a new style of outboard, Rotax powered, horizontal crankshaft....

I think we're a ways off from that for a number of reasons. First and foremost is lack of charging and the additional weight from the battery pack. Then limited run time.

New to me Livingston not performing at its best

Going off what I'm finding elsewhere...max load (including people, gear, and motor) is 900lbs. So overloading it isn't helping anything. I'd confirm the total load and see if you can shed some excess weight..... As for the motor, it looks like you'd need to drop the pitch some to get it into...

    Towing and Cockpit cover concerns?

Going the distance you are, I would encourage you to have the boat shrink wrapped instead of relying on an unknown cover. Make sure the person/company doing the work knows its for transport purposes, not storage.

    Draining Mystery Water

Your camera catches the lower part of your outboard bracket. There's rust stains, presumably from your mounting bolts on the transom. It's visible at the very beginning of your video. The comment about your transom is that if its flexing it will let water in as its not sealing properly. Looks...

    USB charger

You're all missing the point here. This isn't what I could do as options....read my opening remarks. I wanted to know experience, good or bad, with the option I listed. Cigarette port adapters have to be stored somewhere. I have 3 boys. It's going overboard at some point then what? Kinda like...

BRP reveals a new style of outboard, Rotax powered, horizontal crankshaft....

Yes, the people we bought the MFG in my signature from were water skiing behind it. And that's with burnt pistons (per the marina that did some maintenance for us). But that was a bare bones, no frills, awfully light boat....nothing like the floating sofa boats these days which require a lot...

BRP reveals a new style of outboard, Rotax powered, horizontal crankshaft....

Well it would need to be pushing more than 150 ponies as that's going to be anemic on a 21-22' fiberglass deck boat with the options I would need to have.

BRP reveals a new style of outboard, Rotax powered, horizontal crankshaft....

IF, and mighty big IF, they take off, I wonder if you could get them in other power configurations and mounted on different boats - say a Ski & Fish or deck boat? Be nice to have the best of both worlds - large continuous sunpand/swimdeck and outboard.

    USB charger

Plenty of space next to the radio. Direct run back to the battery on same side of the boat. 1 hole to drill and out of the way when not needed. I have plenty of access behind there to do what I need to do. **The covered black port is the stock USB port which doesn't charge a device but does...

    USB charger

I do have a cigarette lighter port but as mentioned this option is ruled out. It's yet another item to roll around and eventually end up at the bottom of the lake. Also another point of failure to troubleshoot when a phone isn't charging.

    USB charger

I searched and didn't find anything related to this....(hey I'm old and I'm fat if I missed it - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it  ) Admiral wants to be able to charge the phone in the boat and the stock USB connection to the radio doesn't....at least that's what she reports and we...

    Draining Mystery Water

It was dripping pretty good before the drain plug was removed. What's the underside of the hull look like? Boat been beached alot?? I'd look very carefully under the boat to see if there are any punctures/gouges in it. That checks out, I see alot of rust staining on the outboard mounts. How's...

Sweetwater 2286 FS electrical problem 😪

Sounds like you're missing a fuse block somewhere given the amount of items not working. Is the radio in the helm? If so, do you have an access door/panel you can open to see what else may be inside that compartment or at the very least be able to trace wiring?? Depending on the age of the...

Water in bilge? Bilge pump runs too often.

If the wood in your transom is rotten/missing, then the inner & outer transom fiberglass will flex and can cause a leak. Here's a visual for you.... Take 2 pieces of paper and cover each side of a sheet of plywood - any thickness. Basically a paper - plywood sandwich if you will. Try bending...

Any tips to keeping your boat clean with engine work?

I let the marina handle it and its usually clean when I get it back. Might take a minor wipe down on the vinyl or a quick vacuum but generally speaking it's in the same condition I brought it in. IF you have snap in carpet, I'd just remove it. Rinse down the floor once you've finished your...

    Can't identify model?

To expand.... Motor/drive parts are specific to the manufacturer - either Merc or OMC/OMG. Everything else - cleats, railings, rubrail, radio were all bought off the shelf from 3rd party suppliers and assembled by Bayliner on the factory floor into your boat. They are NOT Bayliner specific...

    Battery discharge. ...normal?

Which again is why when you have a new boat with a warranty you get ahold of the marina to get it squared away. New boats often have issues - mine have. I go in with a punch list to have them address it all at once. Makes it worth their time and mine to drag the boat to them. Also avoids YOU...
