    What is this?

That's a Courtesy light that lights the lower interior. There's one on each side. Should be a switch with that name on your panel. At least there is on my Concept.

    Using inverter on board

You will likely need more margin between your 650W load and your 750W inverter. A 1000W would be better, especially if you still want to run lights. Have you done the math to determine if you have enough battery power to run the inverter? To run a 650W inverter you're going need about 60 amps...

    Duo Prop Removal

The primary reason to remove the prop is to grease the splines so it doesn't corrode onto the spline.

    Bellows full of grease/oil

There are no indents on the seal. It seals against the forward edge of the bell. Clean it up with a scotchbrite pad, apply some triple guard grease, and it will seal fine. There is a fair bit of rubber compression when you tighten the six nuts that attach the drive.

    SX-M Prop Housing Anode

I see in the parts diagram for my joint venture SX-M drive that there is a prop shaft housing anode and retainer, which my drive doesn't have. I can find the anode, but not the retainer on line. I've never seen this anode (3852970) in any SX-M anode kits. Is this anode no longer being used...

    Bellows full of grease/oil

If it was me, I would pressure test the drive to confirm the input shaft seal is not leaking.

Holsclaw trailer has no spindle washer ???

As long as the nut is only contacting the inner race of the bearing, you're good to go.

Lower unit oil has metallic swirls

Yep. Figured if there were shavings you would have mentioned it.

Lower unit oil has metallic swirls

It looks old, but nothing terrifying. Just be sure to use Volvo Syn 75W-90 oil when you refill it.

    Help with starting issue…

I would first clean all the electrical connections in the starter circuit ensuring that each metal interface is shiny (battery terminals, starter terminal, negative connection to engine block, etc). I've had similar symptoms once and cleaning the connections addressed it.

Should we antifoul paint our 1998 SX outdrives?

Yes, you should paint the drives. It will prevent the growth in the crevices and at the opening of the cooling inlets, but not deep inside the inlets. You should clean the inlet growth out as best as you can, then back flush from the raw water pumps so you don't introduce the broken up crud...

    Keel roller not centering

The V is intentional. The rollers are there to center the boat while loading, not so much when all the weight is on the bunks. This varies by trailer design. Does the aft roller bracket look bent? If you can, you could raise the rollers a bit, or lower the bunks, but I would ensure all the...

    285 Kitchen Sink Faucet

Boats generally don't have grey water tanks. It goes over board. The pump you mention sounds like a shower sump pump that collects the low point shower water and pumps it overboard. Do you have a grey tank? You're description is a bit confusing. First the shower water is collected and...

Help with Battery issues after stereo install

Attach the red wire to the battery and then check voltage on the black negative wire with a meter (not connected to battery) to see if the stereo has an internal short.

    Dead rise question

The 5.0 will be better for pulling a skier, plus the lower deadrise will create a smaller wake. As noted above, compare the weights of the boats. That will likely be the most notable factor for smoothness in rough water.

    2004 Glastron GX205 w/ Volvo Penta 5.0 Overheating

Also, get an IR gun for $30 and verify the temps at the thermostat. It’s a great tool to have for diagnosing temp issues. The sensor is likely accurate.

Bow of boat hits winch when loading onto trailer

Not on my winch. Mine switches direction also in low speed mode since it's introducing another gear between the handle and the cable/strap drum. The video above illustrates the change in direction when switching gears... The handle rotation reverses when retrieving when switching between low...

No engine alarms. Can’t find anything in service manual.

I have the same engine and the audible alarm is an option. It has the SLOW system that puts the boat into limp mode (limits to 2700 rpm) if the water temp gets too high or the oil pressure gets too low. There are dedicated switches, not sensors, for these functions. I believe they close to...
