1996 Four Winns Sundowner with 5.0 Cobra engine and drive

for the record, the cone clutch drives dont care what gear they are in (even neutral) as the cable doesnt interface with anything during the mating process. The jacket attaches to the pivot housing, and it connects to the lower with an eye fitting and cotter pin once its all said and done... I...

license plate mount.... where would YOU put it....

Im more concerned with ripping the damn thing off TBH..... My other boat trailer had it below the tail lights, and about all of the plate that is left is the top inch..... and this boat hangs about 2 feet off the ass end of the trailer, so that doesnt help with "visibility"..... I wish I could...

license plate mount.... where would YOU put it....

Boat licensing is through fish and game.... thats already been done... Much easier than MVD...... the subsection C referenced is only to the "Arizona" being obscured on the top of the plate.... because AZ is stupid, we have like 75 different plates, so you have no idea what state its from...

83 Chevy SB crack repair...braze or JB Weld?

reason folks "repair" the 3.0 is they are a bit harder to come by than a small block v-8. They also tend to leak to the OUTSIDE, whereas that small block WILL leak to the inside and ruin the rest of the engine with water contaminated oil..... its just a small block v-8... Chevy made MILLIONS of...

license plate mount.... where would YOU put it....

there is a link in the original post to the appropriate statute 28-2354 - License plates; attachment; civil penalty

license plate mount.... where would YOU put it....

I would generally agree, however, that does not meet the 12" height requirement to the bottom of the plate..... Above it may work, but I dont want the boat either ripping the plate off when loading/unloading or the plate scratching the hell outta the boat.... I am rewiring the trailer anyway, so...

license plate mount.... where would YOU put it....

Boat trailer for the current "new" boat is a 1988 TrailRite tandem axle. Pretty decent piece, with one fairly glaring exception..... THERE IS NO LICENSE PLATE... I have the title, so getting one isnt gonna be an issue, however, I cannot see where one has ever been mounted. There is no light for...

    bimini top fitment

I was thinking more along the lines of moving the mounts back, and going with a 4 bow for a longer style. May still do that, but if this looks "correct" then we will leave it alone for this year.....

Casting numbers help omc cobra 5.0 HO motor thought 1993

are there any other numbers cast into the block. There should be a date code cast into the block somewhere, usually 4 digits. The D9JE number is the casting number, and follows the same style of dating, but there should be a date code somewhere around. I have heard them being behind the starter...

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

ok, lets close this one out... its running, and running pretty decent. I still need to finalize the timing (waiting on the shunt....) and final set the carburetor, which I need the timing set final to do.... its running rich, but thats an easy fix once timing is set.

    bimini top fitment

Picked up the "original" bimini top for our boat today from the previous owner. Its in good condition, but I am not sure about the fitment on it....... first off, every top I have installed on other boats, you didnt have to stretch the bows nearly 4 inches to get them into the mounts. This top...

    Boat Engines

I would amend that to a Pre-1995 OMC, when the Cobra became a Volvo in drag..... not that the Cobra cant last before that, but its more of a crapshoot, and parts is gettin rarer by the year..... and ya better know how to either swap a drive, or work on it yourself otherwise.

Casting numbers help omc cobra 5.0 HO motor thought 1993

to this note, even my OMC manuals (1995 vintage) which have both the carbed and EFI versions of the Ford engines doesnt go into camshaft information with regards to types of lifter or replacement thereof..... so using that as an "original source" of information is a dead end. Using the...

    Boat Engines

where to draw the line depends on your skill level and willingness to learn new things. In my case, not much scares me.... I have done hull repairs and rebuilds, and I have built and installed engines.... its a tooling issue with me... if I need to get a bunch of new (read expensive) tooling, or...

Casting numbers help omc cobra 5.0 HO motor thought 1993

ford gets a bit funky with the casting numbers..... Take for instance the 460 for my truck. The casting number is the same right back to the LAST change made to it in the late 70's, but its numbers matching to the truck, which is a 1995..... so take that with a grain of salt. Your 302 is...

im betting its suction holding it in with the grease..... My tool has provisions for a screw in eye in the end of the tool.... perhaps yours has the same.

    MOTOR SWAP

chances are you have a one piece rear main seal and need a 2 piece one (or vice versa.... either way, its a relatively simple fix by getting the correct flywheel and coupler for your new engine. The flywheel and coupler are not interchangeable between the types, as you found out. Other than...

Where you buy gasoline is critical.

Same here. The MoGas stations around these parts do a LOT more volume than the marinas at the lakes. I also dont have to pay the "lake tax" for the same gas...... there is no such thing as "ethanol free" anywhere around me, marina or not

95 Four winns 5.8L OMC Cobra

DIdnt think of the King Cobra, although my 1995 manuals only show the King Cobra behind a 7.4. Who knows what actually rolled off the line though.....
