    Easiest Conversion

You'll need to install a new transom in the boat and cut the keyhole for a mercruiser transom assy. Might also need to refab the stringers/mount areas depending on engine choice Plenty of info/help right here on iboats in the restoration forum

    50 amp braker

Did you try this starter button applied directly to the primary post of the starter solenoid (the solenoid attached to the starter)? If so, the starter has failed and needs replaced Otherwise follow dodge's advice from post #15 and measure voltage at the primary post on the starter solenoid...

    Installing coupler

The coupler pictured attaches to the crank end, basically sandwiches the flywheel between it and the crank end Factory setup uses studs in the crank end with flanged nuts holding the coupler and flywheel on. Unknown what the torque value from volvo is but do know mercruiser flywheel bolts are...

    No start with key

Neutral safety switch? Guessing you're having an issue with the engine turning over/cranking with the key switch? Is there any voltage at the primary side of the solenoid with the key switch in the "start" position?

Wave impact, whining engine gxi-d 5.7

If the prop exited the water and you didn't throttle back there may be damage to the running gear Some efi volvos have very noisy fuel pump assys. Could try unplugging one/both pumps when the whining starts, see if it goes away

Shift shaft has 12 degrees of play.

I've measured the free play in the shift shaft on a few Alpha One/MC-1 drives and I've only seen one out of spec. That one drive came off an older boat with an oem/original style (threads into the fwd side of the bell housing and core cut to length) lower shift cable. The shift adjustment had...

1996 Four Winns Sundowner with 5.0 Cobra engine and drive

It's a drain hose for any water that happens to get inside the flywheel cover. Idea is that if water does get into the area that drain will allow water to escape faster so it does not reach the starter or rms/less water being flung around by the flywheel Superfluous? Maybe, but it's there...

4.3l mercruiser no start when hot

Cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter(s), check/set timing and idle, check fuel pressure/vacuum

First startup for the season and then died

If the filter is a spin on type and installed empty the fuel pump will have a very difficult time self priming the fuel system

    Volvo Penta exhaust riser

Only time I've seen a line like that from the exhaust cooling passage is for a dripless propshaft packing on an inboard/v drive or a hot/cold raw water shower It'd be best to abate the barb and hose and just plug the hole

    2005 Volvo penta gxi-e

Most likely a short to ground in the ignition circuit somewhere in the engine harness You haven't mentioned using an ohm meter to check for a short. Using the blown fuse method you've isolated the issue to the engine harness. A dvm along with a visual inspection will help greatly in locating...

    Water in lower unit

If the u joint bellows are dry inside and in good shape with no gear oil present you can rule out the yoke shaft seal The drive halves mate with o rings so little chance of the leak being there unless there is damage from a hard strike or corrosion Mercruiser has a service bulletin about bravo...

What gives with helping people with a problem ?????????????

All one can do is post an answer to the OP qeustion(s) to the best of their knowledge If the question/issue is too vague either ignore the thread or ask appropriate questions for better troubleshooting advice The issue regarding resolving the problem is left up to the OP. It is their decision...

    Transom Assembly Bolt

Certainly can tighten the transom assy fasteners but with the engine and exhaust in place you'll never reach them all. Spec is 25-30 lb/ft iirc. 40 year old boat with original equipment I'd first be suspect of corrosion and transom rot

    Water in lower unit

The only seals under water on a bravo are the propshaft seal(s) Other seal area is the input yoke shaft which should not be subject to water at any time as the u joint bellows should be dry inside Be sure the drain plug gaskets are in good shape and the shouldered area is free of debris/old...

    Broke impeller shaft help!

No clue But you'll most likely have a tough time finding someone who will work on it. Have to find a shop willing to work on older stuff with someone capable of doing the work properly. Maybe an independent guy who works primarily on sterndrives, there's a few around What is transom oil?

5.0xl/V8 mer. Where do I start?

Ditch the starting fluid and use gasoline to prime/pop off the engine. Fill the filter full and reinstall. Add another 5 gallons of gasoline to the tank. Prime the carb bowl through the vent and attempt to start once the new pump is in place Not a bad idea to inspect the fuel pickup and anti...

    Broke impeller shaft help!

Definitely seals and gaskets as you need to fully disassemble the upper drive half to replace the shaft Might not need to change the shimming, bearings and gears but the only way to know is by inspecting and measuring with the new shaft installed
