I use only old light bulb units. Never a popped bulb or rusted socket.
I sealed everything with RTV silicone. No possible leaks or connections. Trailer is a 1980 for the little boat.
All of us old timers have read about these Trickle Chargers failing. And that cooks the battery to death by next spring. They are made all over the world. As cheaply as possible.
I try to check my batteries, hopefully, every month.
Oh well.
I am reading it as the generator can not keep up with the current being pulled out by the engine while running.
Is there a chance the battery is supplying current to other things ? Running the engine too slow ? Lights on whenever the ignition is on ?
Or the fact that both batteries are not...
Rachet for your first crimper.
WARNING about a ratchet crimper.
Some HAVE to complete the FULL COMPRESSION travel. You put in too big of a connector ? Oh well. I brought mine back to the store & bought the plier looking one. Squeeze as hard as your hands can squeeze. Done
There were S S impellors in Commercial Outboard motors made by Everrude & Johansen way back my 1986. Had them as a optional replacement for any sandy areas.
All types of batteries have a ...........IDEAL voltage ...........when fully charged..
And a .... possible........ Trickle Charge Voltage based on air temperature it is in.
No trickle charge or too high..... that is wrong voltage ? Is death of batteries.
Winter or summer.
Keeping a battery...
Those very simple triangular pieces ?
Cut and weld or even rivet in place. After gently rounding some the 2 surfaces first.
It might take you a couple of tries. But it is a simple enough piece to master.
Big mistake removing GOOD old batteries.
The newer ones are DESIGNED to fail in much less time and number of run down cycles.
Yes They can really build them to die on a certain year after construction.
LIFEPO4 batteries......MUST ...... have the correct charging and... COMPLETE CUT OFF... voltage in the charger.
No trickle charging after battery is fully charged.
TOO RISKY that way.
I do it the way all marinas do it. I drain ALL the drain fittings on the engine. No cooked rubber stuff and no ice ups causing damage. Millions of boats get the safe ....open the drains way. every winter.
