    oil leak on 3.0

    remove the timing cover then inspect the pan gasket. I took off my timing cover and I inspect the pan cover ... cleaned it and I put the sealer of the gasket ..the oil pan is not leaking .. I had to fix the water pump... if you take out the motor , a lot of money...drop the oil pan ..

    so you did not have a trailer ... well you have to go to the boat mechanic and the out drive impeller is a break down . boat mechanic also inspects the water engine cooling . engine is around 240F ,, oil is 14 psi ...low pressure ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,typical around 40 psi ...normal.. the impeller...

    the lube is on the cutoff switch module .. then the switch.. is moved it rev/fwd .. also the cable to the out drive can be a wear issue ..

    the out drive switch or the wires corroded to the up switch, then the up button on the dash was using the dash up switch ..2 solenoids up and is down ...the dash switch uses a voltmeter ...to troubleshoot it ..

    I have my dwell meter .....bought it in 1967 my 442 olds ... the older engines mercrusier changed the timing updated gasoline is a alcohol 10% ...LOOK IT UP ..... my merc MCM470 1978 the timing 8 deg at RPM 800 ,,, then changed it 4deg ....changed the gasoline ..merc changed my motor timing...

    the out drive trim cylinders are down the trim switch is using the voltage to the motor....then the up switch is to the relay and then the relay goes to the motor changes the reverse positive negative . the high current is up on the motor ,,, up on the out drive ...

    so the out drive is down then the out drive is not up ? the wiring is a dc motor and the motor switch is up then change the motor change to reverse voltage ... CCW/CW ..on the motor power .

    yes take the boat drain plug out on the trailer ...use a tarp over the boat . inspect the electrical components ... dry the fan with a motor .... when I take my boat out of the water I take out the boat drain plug...take the battery terminal off ....

    permatex medium thread locker that put on the helicoil threads a small amount .... when the bolt is old did not take that bolt off very high torque .. then I use a small torch flame heat it up then use a socket or a wrench in the ice water bottle .. then the bolt will shrink and remove that old...
