    Marine VHF vs. VHF

Aside from water resistance, is there a difference from a VHF radio and a Marine VHF radio? My only guess is that a marine VHF has a limited range of frequencies compared to a non-marine VHF. I believe I'm correct that off the water you have to be licensed to operate a VHF radio, yes?

    Using towable tubes on snow?

Re: Using towable tubes on snow? I would think the cover will take a beating and slow the tube down. I've gone on inner tubes and they work pretty well... ... but back in the day, this: was THE BEST. Find one some where, wax the rails for a few minutes, sled. Rinse, repeat.

Electric shift spring clutch on OMC sterndrive

Re: Electric shift spring clutch on OMC sterndrive If it's an electric shift, the prop should spin without any power to it. If you're an electric shift, you should have two cables coming off the intermediate housing on the port side of the engine. You can see mine on the lower right side of...

    Interesting Tender Design

We saw Steve Jobs yacht finished up a while back. THIS TENDER has a similar look, but I kinda' like the functionality of it. I ran across it lookin' at some design stuff this morning for work ... thought y'all might enjoy.

Any heating and cooling guys out there?

Got the news today ... my main floor heating/cooling unit has pretty much given up the ghost  I trust the guy who looked at it for me (he's worked on our stuff a couple of times, and has excellent references), and he says it could be repaired (condenser problems - I'll get specifics...

What are the worst 3 vehicles you have ever owned.

Re: What are the worst 3 vehicles you have ever owned. Mine looked almost just like this one: Mine was the auto too, and you're right the five speed was completely gutless. The auto was a dog off the line, but right around 40MPH that turbo would really get going and that car would take off...

    Where to get carpet

Re: Where to get carpet In this picture I hadn't done cleanup on the floor yet, and have just realized that I never did another shot with the floor specifically: 40 year old floor, and fake smoked wood finish on the seats to boot. Newer stuff is MUCH nicer looking. A couple of guys have...

    72 omc stern drive 225 overhting ???

Re: 72 omc stern drive 225 overhting ??? It's tough (I think) to submerge the drive enough to get water running through the system. It's supposed to be this deep when operating: If you've got this hose attachment on your unit, run some water in that to see if the system is cooling: If you...

    72 omc sterndive electric shift

Re: 72 omc sterndive electric shift What kinda' controller are you using Rich? There were two or three possibilities. On mine: The shifting is simply forward to engage forward, back to engage reverse (gotta' push the little button on top). To "rev" in neutral, all you can do is pull the...

    OMC 2.3 Oil Change Problem

Re: OMC 2.3 Oil Change Problem Mine's an older unit ('72), but the type of "top" he's talking about you can see in this picture: Toward the bottom right of the photo, you can see the dipstick and the oil drain connection next to each other.

Re: 1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems I can't tell where the wires are going in that photo, but I can't see the knife connectors typical of electric shift. What Howard meant by the props is that an electric shift prop would look like this: ... You might have a prop that allows...

    Truck Tires Online

Hey y'all: anyone had a really good experience buying truck tires online? If yes, from where? My E150 runs load range E tires, but on 16" rims. Those haven't been too bad to buy locally, but my new-to-me Dodge 2500 is on 17" rims ... yeouch!! Them's expensive tires!

    1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems

Re: 1978 140 HP OMC Engine/Sterndrive problems IF you're electric shift, you should be able to find the shift cables for your drive on the port side of the engine back by the intermediate housing. They'll look kinda' like this: You can see mine resting on the top of the blower hose. There...
