1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Got on the water yesterday and it stranded me. Back to its old tricks of flooding out at low throttle and idle. I've got the QJ off the boat and back on the work bench, and I'm adding a fuel pressure gauge to see if it's the fuel pump that's the issue.

Cracked my out drive need help on a replacement

A brand new SEI complete unit (lower and upper) looks to be about $1,650.

Damaged corner of swim platform - how to repair?

I have to agree with Scott - cut out the top and do the repair there, where gravity will be working with you. While you could do it from the bottom and potentially save the original gelcoat and non-skid, the cost of having to do inverted glass work would make it not worth it. If you're worried...

    1987 CHRIS CRAFT AMEROSPORT 284

If you can pull the senders out of the tanks, you can manipulate the float manually and check the resistance on the output - should be around 30 ohm for full, 240 ohm for empty (if it is a standard sender). If you don't get a change in resistance or if there are dead spots, the sender is bad...

    Bravo 3 steering pin question

Yes, both of those surfaces ride on a lubricated bushing. #4 and #6 in the diagram.

1985 Bayliner 2750 Ciera Sunbridge Resto

Looks really nice. Those transitions from the deck to the hull eat up a ton of PB, don't they?

    1979 Baretta Bowrider

If you're looking for the boat's manual, it's probably nonexistent. If you're looking for the engine and/or outdrive manuals, post over in the Mercury MerCruiser Sterndrives & Engines forum with your engine and outdrive serial numbers (year/make/model of the boat is irrelevant) and someone...

    1985 Gibson Houseboat Restoration

Most folks have to take notes and pictures and make sketches as they disassemble. Very few boat mfgs had published diagrams.

    1983 Four Winns Liberator 203

Only you can answer #1. It sounds like you probably have the skills to DIY it, but I'd guess you're looking at $10-$15k and 12-24 months, assuming you can put in 20+ hours per week and that you'll occasionally have "life" get in the way during that period. If you are sentimental about this...

1987 Power Play XLT-185 - floors, stringers, and upholstery

Prepping the boat for the season. Today I pulled the swim platforms off so I can oil them. I also pulled the fuel sending unit, which was getting very erratic and mostly not working by the end of last season. I measured tank depth for a Wema / Kus-USA replacement fuel sending unit, and will...

Just acquired a 170 Horizon. Assembly required.

Nice! I ran mine on the hose last weekend. This coming weekend will be wash / buff / wax. The weather is nice here...just waiting on the lakes to come up to full pool.

Can the base of engine work? Two to bolts under engine are rusted and can

It looks like he's just using a steel bar between two of the bolt heads on the water pump pulley. If you don't want to do that, I'd recommend using something like the ProForm Crankshaft turning tool. It bolts to the harmonic balancer and gives you a hex or square drive so you can safely turn...

Bottom up restoration! MY FIRST BOAT

My boat is an inboard/outboard, but is still a fiberglass/wood boat like yours. You can click the link in my signature for a very detailed (and long) thread with lots of pictures on the restoration of my boat. You'll want to use 1708 fiberglass in addition to the chopped strand mat (CSM)...

1962 Chris Craft Holiday 20’ bucket list resto

Get some quotes on having it spray foamed...I was pleasantly surprised at the price. I had my garage foamed and added the 24,000 BTU mini-split and it was life changing. Power bill is a little higher in the summer when I'm busting out a lot of projects, but it's so worth it.

1993 Mercruiser 7.4 - Is my Problem Carb or Thunderbolt IV module

I second Cliff's High Performance. They sell great kits (and a great book) if you feel like diving in yourself, and I think you can also send in your carb and have them do the rebuild, but I'm not sure on lead time.

What is this hose coming off of fuel pump

As said above, it should go to the nipple on your carb or flame arrestor. You should replace it with Tygon F-4040-A tubing, which is compatible with fuels. Other types of Tygon (or other brands of tubing) may or may not be resistant.

    Re coating wood/fiberglass decking

You're not gonna get anyone in here to go along with rubberized coating over wood for your deck repair. We are all going to recommend either epoxy and glass or polyester and glass for a proper repair.
