    it all depends who owned it if the person cared about the boat it should be fine , lots of new boat owners don't even know how to store a trailer boat correctly and wind up causing their own issues cheap boats would still never rot if they weren't left full of water just like very well made...

    try spinning as you slide it up you will engage oil pump first then the crank once you feel it click into crank push it on rest of way

    i think i know problem as i kinda had a similar issue the oil pump spine isnt lined up to the shaft spline that was my issue when i replaced a lower somehow i spun bottom shaft before it was engaged into the top and the splines werent lining up and would not drop in

    i love my i/o i put a ls in it instead of using a old gen engine and its very nice thing will idle all day at 600 rpm trolling along :) im presently working on a outboard and constantly wish it was a I/0 lol but it is what it is, just parts are soo damn expensive for outboards.

    i use a polyester caulk usually the roofing caulk only because i try to keep silicone away from any boat i ever wanna paint **** just travels

    oh and coat the lines with silicone spray it will prolong the life of thge rubber as ozone breaks down rubber not just sunlight so by rubbing them down with silicone before install it ads some years of service i spray my belows as well with silicone to keep them from drying out as well .

    so i got out there today and had nice overcast and started working on boat again, stripping paint off outboard to get ready to recoat it , ive got damn near every part for the boat just need to put them on :) been driven randy crazy with texts and phone calls lol, hey got this done or that done lol

    i use blue smurf pipe for single wires and flex pipe for things that need flexibality and pvc for strait runs like to cc i will take some pics and post them here it is noce being able to just pull a defective wire out of a chase and replace it

    i took m,y boat apart with 2 gantrys made of wood and harbor friegt remote control winches since i was alone , can confirm the bow eye and the two eyes in transom should easily hold weight of boat mine i was able to even use the cleats since they were through bolted
