2002 Volvo Penta 5.0 idles great then dies in gear

Yes...That's the first thing I would do. After that, checking float level would be my next step. Does the fuel pump make a whining noise at all? That's the first thing they do when they start to fail. On my carb'd Volvo, that's what happened with mine.

2002 Volvo Penta 5.0 idles great then dies in gear

He has a carb. There is one pump. The ones that had flakes were the dual pump modules used on fuel injected models. If this was a fuel injection module, you couldn't even use a mechanical pump. Starting in the mid to late 90s, GM blocks didn't even come with a place to put a mechanical pump...

should I use a support for my outdrive on my H190?

I used to use the clips. I don't bother anymore. On my current boat, if I lost hydraulics, the sterndrive would still never hit the ground. If your drive would hit the ground if you lost a line or the ram failed, use it as an insurance.

    3.0gs Seized P/S pump

I just looked at a random 3.0GS, since I don't know your model number. I saw one. You have to look in the steering section.

Are VP Flush Muffs the Same as Merc?

As long as they aren't the merc ones that have a rod that go through the water intake. They may or may not work. I used the same muffs on my Volvo as my Bravo 3. I use these. Puts water on both sides and has metal pipes instead of plastic...

    3.0gs Seized P/S pump

It's just a paper gasket for the impeller. Comes with the impeller kit. You are replacing it right? Hopefully who ever put on all the gasket sealer didn't work on the rest of the boat much.

    run a ground wire

I never ran a separate ground. Always used the frame. Of course I drilled a hole, had a crimped on ring connector, used a nut and bolt and painted over the connection.

Changing brakes on load rite trailer

Since the OP has a Ford(not sure of its age), his brake controller will work with most EOH units. Unfortunatly, Chevy integrated brake controllers used to have a hard time recognizing EOH units so you had to add a simulted magnet load onthe trailer. Not a big deal but something you have to be...

Changing brakes on load rite trailer

I changed from surge to EOH many years agu using a BrakeRite Actuator. Works great. I actually transferred the system to my new boat trailer when I sold my old boat. The only problem is that with my 2018 F-150 is that I had to run separate power out an Anderson connector since the 7 pin...

    Wheel bearings full of water

With my travel trailer, I pull the hubs annually to check brakes and bearing condition. I then repack. Dexter maintenance schedule is 12K miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Some people believe they are actually repacking their bearings using this LAZ-Lube method and never pull their hubs...

Got the wife a new RAV4 Prime

I am the one trying to convince my wife to get the RAV-4 Prime. She loves her 2006 Honda Element with 200K miles on it though. It's also a great car...problem is it only get 21MPG on the highway...less than my F-150. My next truck will be the Toyota Tundra if they fix their payload issues...

    Wheel bearings full of water

The worst thing you can use is the EZ-Lube systems that Dexter uses. I call it LAZ-Lube. With travel trailers, people seem to think its a good idea to use this system vs taking the hubs off and regreasing by hand. I have EZ-Lube on one of my boat trailers. I never use it and hand pack. My newer...

Got the wife a new RAV4 Prime

I wasn't around in 1908 but I have heard stories that when the Model T came out, there were people that said it would never be bought by the masses and that the horse and buggy was just fine. My guess...a lot of these curmudgeons now may come around...of course they are likely still holding...
