you state you replaced the gimbal bearing, what did you use to install it?
Was the drive difficult to remove?
Gimbal bearing may not be centered, did you rap the slignment bar up,down,left,right?
and it can still suck fuel when thr engine is shut off. NOPE
A hot rod trick is to run at a high idle and pour a coke soda bottle of water down the carb slowly. .It will vaporize any carbon in the cylinders.
The motor should have a 140 stat and never go above 160.
As per the other suggestions...
if you already remove both manifolds, put muffs on drive, start engine to dry the cylinders, NO MORE THAN 25 SECONDS AT A TIME
If you never overheated it then I have my doubts on a gasket. Most water issues are leaking riser to manifold areas or a physical crack in manifold or riser
fill res, run pump down, check oil level, refill, run pump up, check oil, refill.,run pump down check oil level ,run pump up, check oil level
Now it should be fine
