    1986 Johnson 6.5hp Questions

Check out those plastic carb pieces. The top carb body piece, squeeze the primer ball really hard and observe those plastic tops for cracks that are leaking fuel and or leaking air. Carb roller looks old should be replaced.

    What year is this Johnson?

Buying a parts motor is always a good way to assuming you enough room to store it. Hell, one 14 dollar screw makes it worth it!

    1993 Evinrude 9.9 - no spark

This is where my troubleshooting needs some help. Swapped the leads to the coil pack from the ignition module and the spark followed the good lead, thus have eliminated the coil. Did the bad lead from the coil follow the other cylinder? Description is unclear.

    1996 Johnson 50 Not starting

Carb, carb, carbs. When they don't idle correctly the carbs usually are to blame.

    Omc part

Okay, I received a whole bunch of parts when I bought a whole bunch of outboards this week or last week I can't even remember. This particular thing was in a box with an older Evinrude simplex box and other assorted parts. Anyone know what it is?

    E10RNCS running/starting issues

If it's gray hose replace it with the good black stuff. If it's black and looks old, Sun baked and dried out looking replace it too. In fact you just don't know how old it is, change it. I also haven't been too happy with non OEM fittings. Water pump telltale issue, you're probably on to what...

    1986 Johnson 6.5hp Questions

Upside down with snake oil for a week and then wedges until it releases or the water pump explodes. At that point there is creative ways to get the shaft out. Not fun. Or leave it alone until you start having problems.

1987 OMC Ignition key switch locked and will not turn

I'd you've giving up trying to repair it, stick a screwdriver in it and turn real hard. A key in an outboard is pretty much a waste of time. If they're going to steal it, they're going to steal it. I leave my boat on a buoy all summer with the keys in it.

Impeller change level of difficulty Q

If you don't know "hubba hubba" than you've probably never seen Mary Ann's navel. "Oh my" 🤣 To the original poster.... impellers last longer than what has been stated but follow the steps and it fairly routine. Peace of mind is worth a lot. Matt

1987 OMC Ignition key switch locked and will not turn

There's no lock out for that switch. Only real explanation is lock cylinder froze or key went bad. Does the key come out? If so look for a number on the key or the end of the cylinder. Try replacing the key or add graphite. Much less work. Cyclops is correct, not much clearance in that older...
