    454 in a 21' bowrider

I would go for the Big Block, as It is easier to get Torque with Cubic Inches than trying to make it with Cams, Compression, Carbs, etc. Plus it is making the Power at a Lower Rpm. Higher Horsepower for a Given Displacement, means weaker Low and Mid Rpm Torque

Johnson 50hp swap to a Johnson 110hp Possible?

When you get the 110 installed, drop the Gearcase and replace the Water Pump Impeller. As suggested earlier, a Compression Test is a good idea. Also changing the Gear Oil is a good Idea, If any Water Drains out, or the Oil looks like Mocha, or looks like it has fine Metal Flake, disassembly and...

    1988 transom bracket on a 1970 motor?

Depending on which Motors are involved, you might be able to unbolt the Engine from the Yoke and move it over. It will require the Powerheads to come off to get at the Upper Engine Mounts

    Transom repair on Lakeland fiberglass.

I would pull that Carpet back a bit to see if it is hiding any Sins. You have to remove any Compromised Wood. As for Encapsulated Wood... If it ever got wet, it is still wet

    1991 Johnson

The Year of the motor, or what HP is not settled. By the Cowl Markings, it appears to be an 83. However a coat of paint can hide many Sins. In my eyes, all bets are still off.

    1991 Johnson

Tiller usually Means Rope Start engine, yet this One has the Electric Cowl, and Battery Cables and other Wires passing thru the Front Pan. the Transom Bracket leans that way too, as the Tilt Pivot shows a long Carriage Bolt, where as the Electric Models used a Tube, allowing the Steering Cable...

Carbs, are easy to Troubleshoot, and repair. same goes for Point Ignition. Electronic Ignition and EFI are wonderful, until they aren't, and they are extremely difficult to Troubleshoot unless you have Tens of Thousands of Dollars in Dedicated/Proprietary Test Equipment, or just want to throw...

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

The Q-Jet is an Excellent Carb, provided it is unaltered from it's OEM Specs, unless the Tweaker, really understands the Q-Jet. Few People have any Real Clue as to how it reacts to Mods, because a tweak in one spot can, and will affect other parts of the Fuel Delivery Curve

    Houston….. We’ve had a problem…..

Gotta love owners who choose Parts by seeing if they Fit. Those longer plugs added a few Rpms to the Idle, with Combustion starting closer to the Piston, so the Owner figured he had really done well
