    SM shows two wires to the trim and tilt pump motor. Blue for up and green for down. Mercury parts catalog only shows two wires to the pump motor.

    An airline pilot will never ever use GPS speed when taking off or landing. He will use the old style pitot tube system. Fancified with electronics to make it more accurate. Speed through the air (like speed through water to some) is much more important.

    Agree that the missing washers have nothing to do with the shift mechanism. But they should be installed IMO. Using a pair of padded pliers on the shift cam assembly you should be able to turn the shaft as far as it will go in both directions. Noting the position of the shaft in each direction...
