    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

A couple of Friends have or have had Beamers. One got his in the early 80s, and for a Couple of Years really liked it(why I have no idea, as I thought it was a POS). Once the Warranty ran out, he started disliking the Car. A couple yrs later, his Kid managed to Roll it on a City Street(never did...

All of the Outboards and I/Os. myself and Family have had over the last 60 yrs have been kept outside in temps that have dropped to less than -35. Never burst any Seals. What in the world does having a temp sensor in the Oil do, that having a Thermometer next to the Gearcase wouldn't? Get a...

If you don't want to change the oil a couple of times, you can just let it drain for a day or so, then refill it with the Precision Blend. I am a bit more concerned about mixing oils than racer... but that is a personal choice

How to find pitch and diameter of a stainless steel prop and is it left or right

OMC coated their Stainless Props with Teflon, simply to hide rusting, and Teflon sounded Cooler than Black Paint. Maybe it was to imply that water wouldn't stick to the Blades...

    . . . and I Thought Hi-tech Boat Engines Were Bad . . .

Is that the infamous 3.6, with Elastic Timing Chains? One of my Caddies has that engine, and the chains were supposedly changed under warranty a few years back. Rotors and Pads are aren't too pricy, but the rotors are throwaway items

    Water coming up through carpet

What is that hatch in the 2nd Picture about? Remove the Engine cover, is there water in there? Without seeing the entire Boat layout it is very difficult to make any Diagnosis, as to where water could be coming from. Carpet, can hide a Multitude of Sins

The proper Oil is marketed by BRP as Precision Blend. It used to be called Type C. Be aware though, that there are some 3rd Party Oils claiming to be Type C, but are not Compatible with Electric Shift . The proper oil is less Viscous than 75-90 gear, being that there will be some residual Oil...

    Deadman Switch?

If you use a Safety Chain/Cable on an Outboard, it has to short enough that the Motor can not get more than 1/4" higher than when it is clamped to the Transom. The last thing you want is an Outboard, at WOT jumping around back there, tied to the Boat. You also have to rig it so the Motor can't...
